I suggest to watch the anime subbed, not dub. The English dub from ADV in my opinion was pretty awful.

Start watching Noragami and so far it's good. Probably need to finish Record of Lodoss War and Golgo 13 during the Holiday season. Noragami reminds me a bit of Yu Yu Hakusho, so that's a good sign for me.
My friends and I watch some bad anime for fun. This is what I competed for our bad anime Marathon. Generation of Chaos - Not sure what to think of this one? The animation was awful, but I felt like there was some effort on a story. The cheap animation and bad story telling are fun to laugh at. This anime felt like it was trying to be like Pokemon and any typical Fantasy theme anime, but badly done. I seen way worst, but see this anime once for laughs. Grade: D Spectral Force - This one is based on a video game series that I never played. This anime is so bad that it was fun. Nothing in this anime made any sense and the animation was so awful that it makes Bible Black look like a Hayao Miyazaki film. There was a lot of random WTF moments to make fun of and the dub is very cheesy. If you want to watch some bad anime with friends, I suggest to check it out. Otherwise, skip it. Grade: D Panzer Dragoon - Another anime that was based on a video game, but at least I knew about the video game series beforehand. This anime was pretty easy to make fun of with the bad animation, terrible voice acting and horrible writing. For a one shot OVA based on a Sega Saturn video game, there's not much to say. The dub did help made this anime more enjoyable. I did feel like that this anime had some level of potential. Only watch it for laughs with friends. Grade: D+ Dog Soldier: Shadows of the Past - This anime was the best out of the other three that I watch with my friends. However it's still not very good. I do have memories of this anime being on VHS at my local Hollywood video back in 1996. I mistaken it for a Rambo knock off, but this anime is inspired by the Rambo movies without a doubt. The story isn't that good, but the action scenes make it up for it. The anime is enjoyable for being pretty cheesy and can be over the top. However the character interactions not very interesting and the anime has way too many flashbacks. Not to mention, the animation is not even that good (Even for 1989 standers). Overall, I was not hoping for much with this anime but it was not awful. I seen way worst and I'm glad that I saw it. If you like action anime from the 80's and 90's with little to no plot then give it a try. If you want a good cheesy action anime from the 80's and 90's, I suggest to watch Riding Bean or Mad Bull 34 instead. Grade: C-

I just realized I haven't really posted here in a while so, I guess I thought it was time to do so. Have been watching plenty of stuff after all.
So, as far as seasonals go...this season is a mixed bag, as is usual, but not as mixed as they usually are! I think the is the only one I can remember where none of the shows I'm watching are actually bad, just there's a few I don't care for. But, specifically... So ClassicaLoid ain't good. The characters are very one-note and the gags are unfunny, and I know I just said none of them are actually bad but I guess I just forgot about this one because honestly, this one is kinda bad. It's just not entertaining at all, and after 11 episodes I just grow more tired of it. The music is occasionally fun, but rarely. I kinda like the art style, but I dislike the art direction, which is troublesome. It's far from the worst thing I've ever seen, but it's about as far from a series I would want to spend 25 episodes on as I could imagine. The next 14 weeks are gonna be annoying. I suppose that does give it plenty of time to get better, but seriously, not expecting anything. Nanbaka is a series I was really hoping I would like, but holy hell do I not. The Warden is barely in it anymore so the one thing I liked about it isn't even there to tide me over. I don't think it's bad (though it seems seriously confused about what kind of series it actually want to be) but it’s definitely not for me. Nobunaga no Shinobi is ok, I guess. It’s inoffensive which I guess counts for something. And short, so it doesn’t feel like I’m wasting my time so much. AppliMonsters ain’t doing so much for me either, but I went into that in the Digimon thread so I won’t say much here. Also, I’ve fallen behind and there’s like 5 episodes I need to watch so it’s not like I have anything to say. 3-gatsu no Lion is a fantastic show, and I’m so glad that I chose to watch it for no reason. It’s really great. Artistically it’s very unique and well executed (as expected from Shaft) and the story is very well realized. Characters are solid as well. The only real criticism I have for it is that the tonal shifts from the usual more lowkey, sometimes somber feeling it usually has and the overly energetic comedic bits it gets into are kinda...whiplashy at times. Though even so, it kind of feels like that is intentional to some degree. Regardless, it has had some extremely strong episodes so far. Also, Bump of Chicken is a blessing from the gods. Fighter is great, but Answer is just the most incredible thing. I feel like I could watch the opening a thousand times and never tire of it. Watashi ga Motete Dousunda has gotten less fun with time, like I still really love it, but after episode 8 it’s been less...I don’t know. Maybe episode 8’s Cure parody just was too tough an act to follow. Or maybe I found creepteach to be a creep. It’s good though. I’m really enjoying Occultic;Nine, but man, being 12 episodes is so limiting. Only one episode left, and it’s just...there’s no way it’s gonna be as satisfying and conclusive as it could have been, perhaps, in another universe. I so wish this was a two cour series. As it is, I still like it a lot. The characters are...not that remarkable, but entertaining to see interact, I suppose, and the whole driving mysteries has been very fun for me. It vaguely reminds me in some ways of Chaos;Head, a series that if no one else, I really enjoyed, so there’s that. Was only kinda hoping the stories of the “nine” would intertwine more, as there’s around three characters who have done little in relation to the others. But well, I guess that’s what 12 episodes gets you. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the ending regardless, but it’s a bit of a shame. Then there’s Lostorage incited WIXOSS. So, fun fact, I literally haven’t been caught up on my shows long enough to get to this one in the entire time it’s been airing, so I’ve yet to start it. I’m pretty sure it ends like, tomorrow. But I guess it’s not so bad. I don’t know anything about it, so hopefully it ends up being at least as entertaining as the previous WIXOSS series. That’s my seasonals so far. I also finished reading Sakamoto yesterday, so I watched the last couple of episodes I hadn’t watched and the OVA. The episodes were decent enough, but the OVA was some pretty useless crap. Oh well. Anyway, as far as stuff I’m watching separate from seasonal stuff goes...finished Haruhi a while ago. Enjoyed it a lot. Movie was great. Then I watched the Nagato spin-off. I kinda struggled with this one at first, because it’s...pretty off. Then I started considering it as just being on the same tier as stuff like Churuya or Haruhi-chan (and to be fair, it has some suspicious similarities to these, like being comedies, all the ooc, and making Asakura a main character). It was fine after that. Ultimately, I enjoyed it well enough. I’d probably go as far as to make the leap to say it was good if only they’d committed to the confession at the end. Oh wells. Also started a couple other series. Gyakkyo Burai Kaiji is really damn good. I am no longer able to recall why I ever added it to my plan to watch list, but I’m sure glad I did. I’ve only seen 10 episodes (so the first arc and the beginning of the second) but it’s really engrossing when it gets going, and all the little trickery is really satisfying and fun to see. Also, I love when series just spend a bunch of episodes on a single event like this. Really fun. Also started Shinsekai yori. Also 10 episodes into it. It’s definitely not bad, I just don’t know what or how to feel about it so far. Definitely an interesting one, the latest episode I’ve seen in particular. There’s really endless possibilities of where they could take it from here, so it should be very interesting no matter which way it goes. And...I think that’s about it. |

Curious, what anime series/movies did you end up watching this year? It doesn't matter if they were new or old, list them.
I watched: Gankutsuou Gungrave Gundam Zeta Gundam Gundam ZZ Gundam 00 Psycho-Pass Psycho-Pass 2 Psycho-Pass The Movie Gundam 08th MS Team Gundam 0083 Danganronpa Gundam Wing Turn A Gundam G Gundam Gundam 0080 Gundam Reconquista G Gundam Age Gundam Thunderbolts Gundam X Gundam Seed Gundam CCA Gundam F91 Gundam Seed Destiny Gundam Unicorn Escaflowne Dragon Ball Super Gundam Origin Eps 1 & 2 One Piece (Thriller Bark and Sabaody) As you can see, this was a Gundam year for me and I still have to watch Victory and IBO (well I started but never finished so I'm just going to start over). Regardless, I haven't watched this many series in a given year since 2007. Aside from the two Gundam series, next year I plan to rewatch Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell SAC, check out One Punch Man, and finally watch my DVDs of 009-1 and Last Exile. I'm probably not going to watch as much anime in 2017 though since I really need to catch up on my Toku. |

The year is not over yet. I still have a few more titles to finish before the year is over. I'm going to try to finish Noragami Season 1, Record of Lodoss War, Golgo 13, New Dominion Tank Police and Overlord soon.

Overall, I feel like I watched a bunch of stuff. It's probably less in number than I watched last year (the bulk is made up of seasonals, which themselves were less than I watched last year) but overall I watched more longer series this time. I placed a moratorium on adding things to my to-watch list at the beginning of the year, since I wanted to focus on finishing all the stuff on it that had been there for ages, and I actually came pretty close. Including Kaiji and Shinsekai yori which I'm currently watching, I believe there are only 7 shows left on it. ...however, they are also pretty lengthy or have multiple seasons, so that'll take a while longer. (Jojo already already has like, fifty seasons). Still, I'm mostly satisfied with how many I watched. Took on a lot less seasonals this year, which was probably the right choice. Even those I did pick up mostly weren't so great. I'll probably cut back on them even more in 2017. We'll see. |

... Wow... just wow. I haven't even heard of half of those series.
Question, do you need to have play the Danganronpa games to understand the new anime? The thing I loved about the one I watched back in Jan was that I did not need to play the games to understand it. |

...There's also the fact that unfortunately (at least in my opinion), Danganronpa 3 ended up being kind of stupid in the end. You do need to play the game to be able to watch the the anime properly, but that shouldn't be the goal. Honestly, SDR2 is so much better as a story that it's just really worth seeing in itself. The anime is just a bonus of questionable quality. The Danganronpa 3 anime also references and includes characters and events from the spin-off game (Ultra Despair Girls), but not as heavily, and doesn't really...do as much with it. Without being familiar with it, a bunch of things would probably be confusing but...it's not stuff that matters as much, at least compared to the SDR2 stuff. I also think UDG is a more interesting and worthwhile story in itself, but that's just me. |

Ooh this sounds fun. This year I've watched...
Ace Attorney Bananya Beast Wars II Brave Witches Dragon Ball Super Durarara!!x2 Garo: The Crimson Moon Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Kamen Rider SD Kiznaiver Love Live! Love Live! Sunshine Macross Delta Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun Nobunaga the Fool Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3 School Days Space Patrol Luluco Sweetness and Lightning Time Bokan 24 Your Name Yuri on Ice A good range of terrible, mediocre and pretty good stuff really. Yuri on Ice, Your Name and Macross Delta really stand out. The first two as genuinely among the best anime series and films (respectively) I've seen in a while and Delta as an enjoyable follow up to a franchise very dear to me.
