So what you are saying is the Ex-Aid writers are evil geniuses? I honestly would respect them for that.

Cool episode, but I'm a sucker this plot in Toku, so that goes without saying:
- *sees title card instead of opening for third week in a row* Dang it, Ex-Aid! Although this week actually used the theme song in an appropriate place, and if it does mean a minute of extra time for stuff, it's not all bad. I just can't shake the feeling this is less the writers REALLY needing the space and more a failure to get it edited down properly. - I'm totally nitpicking here, but Emu, if you're already taking the big clunky belt with you, are 4 Gashats really that much more space? Or even just one of the Level 3 ones? I guess I appreciate the attempt at giving a reason for the main Rider to use their main form (and in this case Level 4), but come on, it wouldn't be the first time someone in this show has inexplicably decided to go with their main form over a more powerful one. - Love the action scenes with Level 4. Very 90's! Probably the kind of action people were expecting when they first saw the neon suits for the show. - What in the heck is Dan doing when he transforms? Come on man, how am I gonna take you seriously as a villain when you're so dang wacky? ![]() Quote:

What Dan did was outside the rules of the game and pretty much pointless murder. Pallad has shown again and again that he's into fair play and continuing the game;
I'd believe it. The hype Ex-Aid has been getting borders on overblown. I mean, it's a good show and all but it's had at least as many problems as Ghost had around the same point in its run. Even this episode, cool as it was, is a stock plot done at about a stock level, right down to the status quo restoring ending, and there really wasn't much in the way of Plot significance when you get down to it. Basically the only thing long-term that happened was Pallad getting angry at Dan. Like, Snipe was here just to have a Rider to attack the Bugster so Emu could go "no, don't attack the Bugster!", and beyond that role he just did his one note with Niko that he's been doing for weeks now. I guess time will tell if this episode DOES have some big deep meaning to the show overall (and if Ex-Aid really makes "the one with the burger monster" a significant chapter in its story, it will probably have earned the praise), but when Drive and Ghost did this exact plot, it had WAY more relevance to what was going on in the larger narrative. The question of whether or not a Roidmude could be good played into Chase's arc, and making nice with the Ganma was the theme of that entire quarter or so of Ghost. Here? Genm delivers a token line to Emu at the end that's of little real meaning? I just don't see how this is much better than what we've been getting.

I mentioned the stuff with Parad in the paragraph right above the one you quoted but I didn't know that second bit. That definitely does shake things up a bit, to be fair to Ex-Aid.

Neat episode, I wouldn't say fun cause... well Burgmon died. But hey, the rest of it was nice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Interesting thing to note is that Genm now seems to be actively trying to get Emu/M's Bugster to appear. We saw strike one when he tried to take the Mighty Brothers away in front of Hiiro, strike two is in this episode with Taiga seeing it this time, and I'm guessing strike three will be next episode with Emu/M's Bugster finally leaving M's body. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We see Dan working on the Gear Dual Beta with Taddle Quest already in the "Version Up" phase (I don't think that's an actual stage in gave development). And I just thought of something while typing this post. While we know from magazine scans that the Gear Dual Beta is supposed to be Brave and Snipe's power up. There is no in-universe reason for Dan to be developing another Lvl 50 Gashat unless... He was planning on using it for himself to be unkillable and fully on par with Parad. Meaning that Parad giving it to Brave or the CR in episode 19 is gonna be (in my opinion) super hilarious. Parad: "Oh, you're saying Bugsters aren't important for Kamen Rider Chronicle? Well F-you, I'm gonna c-block you out of getting an entire mid-season upgrade." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lastly, I'm using Excite Subs so this might not have actually happened word for word in the episode but. Ex-Aid's first words upon obtaining a food based upgrade: "Eat this, Snipe!" Me: slow claps |

Genm if you kill one more lovable character I am going to take back all the nice things I said about the Dangerous Zombie suit.

Props to Ex-Aid for not only giving us a great episode after, imo, its first weaker entry of the series last week, but also giving us a great episode out of a common toku trope.
Burgemon's death was similar to Medic killing the good Roidmude in Drive to me, though perhaps moreso because the character was definitely more like Kubi in Ghost, a recognizable design rather than a generic design only it's a good guy. I did think he'd end up being a supporting character which just makes his destruction more surprising. JuJu Burger is a surprisingly fun form. The roller blades just make it work and helps gives the fight scenes more flavor. As for Parado's reaction to Dan killing Burgemon, I think it makes sense. As stated, all the previous Bugster deaths at his and Dan's hands had been for reasons. Graphite was power-hungry and didn't play by the rules. Last week's Bugster attacked him, again not playing by the rules. That's the sort of theme Parado follows. If the rules of the game aren't fairly followed, he'll dispose of the problem. In this case, Burgemon was a meaningless kill that Dan followed through because Bugsters mean nothing to him other than being fuel for his ambitions and as punishment for the creation of JuJu Burger without his knowledge. Being a Bugster himself, it makes sense for Parado to suddenly be weary of Dan if he'd go out of his way to kill a Bugster that literally posed no threat to him.

Great episode. The "Not all enemies are bad"-episodes tend to be among the best of the entire season and this one was no different. Burgemon was cute, the new form even though probably a one-off was fun, the roller-skates added a nice touch for the action scenes. I loved how they realized that fighting Burgemon does not mean killing him but playing by the rules of Juju Burger, so giving him a yummy burger was enough to clear the game.
I also like the relationship between Taiga and Niko a lot. They seem like an old couple with all the bickering, it’s really funny. And then the last scenes – oh no. When they cured the host and Burgemon was still there I was so happy that they repeated an element of Ghost’s “Not evil” - episode and had the monster survive but nope – Dan. I was cursing out loud as soon as he and Pallad showed up; I knew poor Burgemon wouldn’t make it. Oh dear. Emu seems like he’s really loosing it now and for good reason – first Kiriya and now Burgemon. So yeah, fun episode all around, I enjoyed it a lot. |

I really liked this episode. They could have just made this another pointless power up episode but they decided to actually make it interesting and do some character development. By the way, did anyone else notice Parad playing with his Gashat when he and Dan confront Emu and Taiga? It was really brief but it was so perfect for his character.
