Also... Oren straight up lusts after Takatora. I mean, of all the times that someone tries to make out any relationship between males to be sexual, this is one of the times where I have to jump in and say, no, this is. Like, this isn't even subtext, it's... text.
...Now I need to go read about a million Kanji/Naoto fics to get myself back to normal... |

And I'm going to say, if that's true, there is so many unfortunate implications to that.
Unless you want to tell me that childhood abuse makes people gay. Because that's what it would be in Kanji's case. He's never interested in men for their own sake, it's because he was bullied by girls as a child. For Pete's sake, the only characters he shows any real interest in is Naoto, who is not male, and the protagonist, who is a Memetic Sex God. That plus the way the TV world actually works... yeah, the evidence is not there. I don't care what they told Baker, it doesn't hold water. |

I honestly just don't see it.
So many of their social norms can be misconstrued as homosexual to a western audience that I always felt it was more of a humorous, over the top appreciation for Zangetsu. Kanji was just a case of him being really bad at expressing himself. His insecurities was about enjoying things not seen as masculine. So everyone immediately took it as homosexuality (Also, his line about "It's not about whether it's gay or straight" (Or something of that ilk) didn't help clear things up).

Precisely.
That plus the continual ship-tease ever since the original release with Naoto says, well, it's interesting things. If nothing else, he likes her. Period. I'm still mad about the epilogue necklace thing, Atlas. You freaking trolls. As for Oren... well, the problem is he also falls into Japanese stereotypes of homosexuality, so... yeah. I'm usually the guy complaining about the rainbow-tinted glasses that some fans have, this is surreal for me. |

Yeah, Fourze had 40 on-screen switches (five of which were form 4 changes), Drive used a total of 23 in his series (five of which were 5 form changes).

His actual "upgrade" form changes are the same amount as Gaim, Ghost, and Ex-Aid though, it's just the Tire Change is his gimmick instead of armor attachments or weird transformation gimmicks or whatever. That's not even counting basic form changes or technicalities, in which case Drive had the least (besides Tire Changes).
Yeah, Fourze had 40 on-screen switches (five of which were form 4 changes), Drive used a total of 23 in his series (five of which were 5 form changes). Gaim couldn't go Orange-Pineapple, for example. Each Lockseed was a form change, but he didn't have 20 other sub forms he could also call on at the same time. Same goes for Ghost. Haven't watched enough of Ex-Aid to comment on him. I'm not really disagreeing with Fourze. I'm just saying that all the forms for Drive is what puts me off from watching it. I watched Fourze as it aired. This isn't an argument of quality and which one handled things better, this is just interest in sitting down and watching the show through

Talking about Kanji can be such a landmine filled trap because of this.

(When did this become a Megami Tensei forum?)
On topic though, I think that Banno as a villain was too little too late. It usually takes me a while to get into new characters, so by the time I was really getting into him the show was over.

The Taros in Den-O aren't compelling. Their interactions with Ryotaro was what made them interesting.
