Which is fitting, considering that Build's successor will debut a few months before the Emperor abdicates - thereby making Build's successor simultaneously the Twentieth Heisei Rider and the first New-Era Rider.

So is Akihito actually stepping down? I only heard a while back that he wanted to retire, not that it was officially going to happen.

I do find it funny because Tsuburaya said Geed would be the last Heisei Ultraman series and people are freaking out thinking the franchise is ending.

Seems like they are still discussing stuff and not everything is set in stone from the looks of it. Understandable since there must be a lot of factors to consider and stuff like this is a very rare occasion.
As for Tsuburaya's statement I can see how some might freak out if they are not informed of the abdication.

If that ends up being the case, I hope they can (at the very least) get all 10 lead Neo-Heisei actors (both Masaki Suda and Renn Kiriyama in the case of W) in the flesh, rather than just have archive audio or fake voices while suited up.

I think its safe to say that's impossible. Masaki Suda, Sota Fukushi(Gentaro's actor), and Gaku Sano( Kouta's actor) alone are far too big to return to Tokusatsu whether they want to or not.

Oh yeah, ansolutely; but Masaki Suda (Phillip) hates coming back, and Sota Fukushi (Gentaro) and Gaku Sano (Kouta) are too busy to come back most of the time.

I could easily see them pulling what they did with Gaim with last year's Heisei Generations, though.
