Granted, they fumbled the ball a lot on it, but they managed to get it back.

Figured I'd throw my $0.02 in this conversation.
I love the idea in terms of a total fan-wanky fanboy stance, but at the same time, I don't think it would have translated well in to television. For starters, the amount of money needed to bring back many of those past actors/actresses, the need to bring back costumes and shoot new footage ... it just seems like an impossible task. The story sounds great though - I just doubt it'd translate well for a show that was becoming more geared for an even younger audience (post Wild Force) than anything. Ninja Storm gave us something gearing back towards the 7-11 range (instead of the 3-9 range) and Dino Thunder, SPD, and Mystic Force continued that. It wasn't until probably Operation Overdrive and Jungle Fury that I felt the show took a nose-dive back towards the age 5 audience. RPM obviously went for the pre-teen and Samurai ... well, Samurai went straight for age 3. This concept is geared for the older fan. And to be honest, a majority of older viewers who used to watch the show probably don't care ... we're a minority, we as people who still follow Power Rangers and care about the story. Hopefully in Megaforce Season 2 we're given plenty of nods and such, but until then....

I think I recall Linkara talking about this idea on one of his HOPR videos (Most likely Ninja Storm) but I don't think it would've worked all that well, especially with Ninjas as a base theme. Lightspeed Rescue could have worked with this kind of idea (Hell, apart from old Rangers and civil war, it pretty much was)

Greetings from the future, Megaforce season 2 is soo bad, it'll make you gouge your eyes out
Jokes aside, it's sad to see how many hopes were set on the explosive trash fire that was Super Megaforce. Made Megaforce look better in comparison. How could Saban screw up a season that had all the source footage it needed to be a winner. Hexagon was a nuts idea, considering how little Disney cared for the brand straight out of the gate, and how small a budget it was allotted, it would've crashed and burned. Probably would have sucked worse than SMF too. Quite an outlandish concept for a childrens series that was transitioning to a younger demographic. Still, if the script is any good, hasbro could probably help rework it as a Netflix Original. Last edited by KaiserBlue; 12-08-2020 at 11:57 PM.. |
