I think this is kind of an issue with a lot of these shows, live action and animated, where the easiest way to fit the multitudinous toys/cards in is to have a fetch quest and it doesn't always work in the best interests of the story, sadly.

Well, I didn't mind the fetch quest, just that, instead of having the MC make use of the literal 100 special cards he had to find, he instead used variations of his personal boss.

Like, imagine in Kamen Rider OOO, Eiji and Ankh still collected all the various medals, but instead of using like, ShaUTa, they used Super Taka, Mega Tora, Batta 3 and etc

So in Zexal, we had a main character with a massive variety of monsters he could use, and instead, he just used Utopia, but with bigger wings, or Utopia with a lion sword

Hahah, I see your point here, that does sound kind of absurd. Although, this is also reflective of exactly how I tend to play Pokémon games, so maybe I kind of relate here, lol.

Yeah, I barely change out my lineup either. Though Alpha Sapphire is the only game where I cleared the game with my oldest six.

And concerning YuGiOh, I guess part of the reason why them collecting and opting to not use the Number monsters irked me so much was because of Battle City in the OG series, and seeing Joey (Another lead cast member) collecting and modifying his deck.

Last gen gave us Litten, who is my favourite! I actually adore everything about Sun/Moon, tbh.

Watching a character customise and improve their deck seems like a big draw for a series so I can totally get why it would be frustrating to see later Yugioh shows just not take advantage of that.

While this thread's still goin, I present Yuru Camp if no one hasn't yet! They weren't kidding when it's just a fun comfort show. I just got through S1 a few months ago while I was at a quarantine zone while I got the 'rona rona.

Gonna get through S2 soon!
