				 | Quote: I'm not a King Kong fan in the slightest. I dislike the monkey so much that Godzilla Vs. King Kong is probably the only Godzilla film I've never seen. That said, this thing looks great. I'm glad they took the more realistic approach in using Peter Jackson's version instead of the classic look, which was embarrassingly bad, imo.

I don't think it's quite fair to say the classic look is embarrassingly bad. It was 1933, they were doing something almost totally unique. I think it looks quite good, and did not improve much until the digital age. Last edited by bluesparrow; 12-23-2012 at 07:14 AM.. |

In hindsight yeah I suppose the original isn't too bad, but the Peter Jackson version was definitely the right way to go for a detailed figure. When I agreed with Matrixbeast I for some reason had the Toho version in mind, which is an embarrassment

Yeah the man in a monkey suit versions like in the Toho movie and 1976 remake were awful. The stop motion one from 1933 stands up against a lot of pre-digital Toho stuff IMO.

Does anyone here like PJ's Kong to have a snaggletooth? Because I find it to be kinda not right with me, but I might just have him in roaring face mode instead when he arrives here in the states. Nothing too major, just never liked the snaggletooth to begin with.

Well, there goes any sense of scale between the MonsterArt releases.

This could be the first MonsterArts figure I may get.

Well, I gotta go against the flow, because this "embarrassment" is the design that would get my money. I love how absurd his face is. |
