Toei has repeatedly shown that they are unable or unwilling to put in any effort to making their shows more available outside of Japan.

I would argue that the prevalence of the sixth ranger archetype exists almost entirely because of Power Rangers. The Green Ranger was immensely popular, and Dragon Ranger was the FIRST sixth ranger, at least the first to actually stick around for more than one episode.
--SNIP-- I think Power Rangers has had a marked impact on Sentai from a production level, if not a story one. Power Rangers being made is the exact point where Sentai stopped being able to make things like Jetman, where it shifted to more generally family friendly material. Some people probably don't consider that a good thing, but its definitely something that has worked out business-wise. I think specific story influences are difficult to find, but Power Rangers' success absolutely played a huge part in the development of Sentai from a production and business perspective. This might be controversial to suggest, but I'm not sure Sentai would still be around today if it weren't for Power Rangers. And I say this as someone who loves Sentai but hasn't cared about Power Rangers in literal decades. |

It's still a large hole in the market that relies entirely on their direct competitor sparking enough interest.
While Sentai and KR is easier to access now that it's officially streamed, what's being streamed are older seasons with no merch to back it up. The Henshin Hero genre is ride or die on toy sales, so residuals from DVDs or ads on streaming are nothing compared to getting people to buy the mechs. If a company in the US isn't going to market Power Rangers, Toei should at least make a marketing push for their Sentai subs. All this is correct from a theoretical point of view, but in practice, the least successful in terms of Western adaptations ridersearn more than both Ultraman and Sentai. |

I know this a is a random reference but Gokaiger has a RPM reference. Go-onger never had the tires on their boot and glove cuffs rotate. RPM did. Gokaiger had the go-onger suits use the tires in the RPM way.

As for Power Rangers, I hope it isn't axed. I enjoy super sentai more but it feels like a waste to get rid of it. Just no more fidgeting in mecha from other source material please. And seeing how Cosmic Fury feels like the end of an era I think it's a good time to refresh whether it's a reboot or a new adaptation.

Thank god for tokuSHOUTsu on Pluto tv. The fact that Pluto and Tubi both have a good Toku presence, enough to even have geats already, is really in the right direction.

Nah, just because the source material is King-Ohger doesn't mean they have to go Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog with it. Hell, that's the fun part of Power Rangers. The Zyurangers were prehistoric JRPG characters but OG MMPR was Saved By The Bell with superheroes, Megaranger was a school drama while PRiS was Avengers Endgame before Avengers Endgame, and Go-Onger was a team that lived in a trailer with a pocket dimension while RPM was a Mad Max/Terminator hybrid.
![]() As for Zenkaiger, I can see it be a thing. Any way. Here?s my ?like.? 👍

You all are grasping at straws to try and make PR much more important to the original Sentai staff when at most it's an afterthought at this point. For example, the concept of 6th rangers weren't popularized by PR for Sentai. If they had become so overwhelmingly hard to ignore then Lightspeed Rescue wouldn't have had to get PLEX to design an American only sixth ranger. Or that Gokaiger's main mechs being chosen cause they had PR adaptations, when in reality nothing suggests it. The picks were actually based on original series popularity, cast member availability, etc; series like Magiranger & Go-Onger being very popular in Japan whereas their American equivalents are not even close. RPM in particular, while very well received by a section of the fandom, is one of the most unpopular. Zyuran is also blatantly based off Geki and he doesn't exist cause of PR.
Aside from little nods and winks here and there, especially currently, Sentai staff are not worrying about how PR is gonna have to deal with adaptation. Notably, no one mentioned the one exact time that the US team had actual active involvement in Sentai and that was Kyuranger's designs which PR promptly ignored for years and never ended up using. Even way back when MMPR was super popular, Sentai producers never once thought of going back to Zyuranger instead only offering to make exclusive new footage for America of more Zyuranger material. I get people are sad about PR dying a slow, pathetic death but let's not delude ourselves here. |
