Hanto/KR Valen arrives and doesn't help Shouma/KR Gavv fight against Shita and Jeebh at all, obviously because if he helped Shouma, then Shouma wouldn't lose so badly, which is not what's required by the subplot in this episode. Shouma must lose so badly in order to gain the required motivation to create the Caking Gochizou later in this episode. Hanto should better not go there at all, rather than arrive and end up doing nothing to help with the fight. Heck, Shita and Jeebh don't even know that he's there. But, if Hanto doesn't come there, then who would help Shouma who's badly wounded to get up and come home to Sachika's shop? Don't know! If your story creates a Catch-22 situation like this, then it usually means that your story is convoluted. A Catch-22 situation means you're creating too many variables in your story. And, as expected, Shita's and Jeebh's agents fail to find Shouma.
Shita's and Jeebh's agents are creating an explosion at the station to lure out Shouma. Where have the police been? They've never shown up to deal with or at least investigate the Granute attacks. Perhaps they're secretly conspiring behind the scenes, but at least they should act like they're doing something. The fact that the police have done nothing and the citizens don't even seem to be bothered with the police's non-action is one of the reasons why this story seriously lacks common sense. In the scene @ 07:26 Hanto and Shouma are reading the same social media posts about the explosion created by Shita's and Jeebh's agents. They left a message for Shouma in the Granute alphabets, which tells Shouma/red Gavv to wait at the Mizoguchi warehouse, or else the damage will spread. Shouma can read the message, which is why he's not heading to the station @ 08:49, but to the the Mizoguchi warehouse. Hanto then brings up the strong Granutes (Shita and Jeebh) and their ninja-esque minions (their agents), and asks Shouma what's their connection to him, and he answers that they're his mom's enemies. Can't Hanto connect the dots already? The agents create a message in the Granute alphabets which no one can read except Shouma. Isn't it already more than enough information that implies that Shouma is very likely not a human? If this scene doesn't make Hanto's Spider-sense tingle, then it's clear this story is an idiot plot. Nyelv kidnaps 3 Gochizous @ 10:18. I've just realized that Nyelv has never got his hands on the Gochizous. Not even one. How can it be that Nyelv, a scientist backed with Stomach's massive resources, has only got his hands on the Gochizous in episode 14, although it was implied in episode 4 @ 02:34 that he had already spied and known about Shouma's identity as KR Gavv, while Kenzou, a mere human with seemingly very minimal resources was able to get the Gochizous simply by kidnapping the Chocodon and Chocodan RG's in as early as episode 3? It makes no sense at all. Had Nyelv have gotten his hands on the Gochizous earlier, it'd have definitely improved his research much quicker. Like in episode 13, Shita and Jeebh are blaming their current situation on Shouma. In the flashback scene @ 11:04, Shita and Jeebh are given presents on their birthday. Then a weird scene happens. Lango, Glotta, and Nyelv are shown to assume their human disguises by inserting their Mimic Keys into their Drivers which are detached from their Gavvs. Aren't the Stomach Drivers supposed to be attached to their Gavvs to function? Aren't they supposed to be an interface between their Mimic Keys and their Gavvs? Don't know! Although they may be detachable, at least they should be attached to their Gavv to enable them to assume their human forms. The presents for Shita and Jeebh are very likely their own Drivers. Hanto ambushes the crab Granute who is in his human disguise @ 13:31, and the crab Granute can do nothing to fight Hanto, who isn't even transformed into KR Valen? This makes no sense. Isn't a Mimic Key only enables a Granute to assume their human disguise, but not lower their strength? After all, it's a human disguise, not a human form, so a Granute should be at his full power at all times, including when he's wearing his human disguise. Then why the heck the crab Granute can't do anything to defend himself against the untransformed Hanto? Don't know! Once again, like in episode 13, the crab Granute blurts out an important information when he's restrained by Hanto that he's just a lowly part-timer employed by Stomach corporation. He tells Hanto that Stomach is the one who's manufactured the Dark Snacks. And when he's finished reciting his infodump as programmed by the writers, he just runs away. Very convenient infodump! So yeah, like his scene in episode 13, this scene is just a blatantly heavy-handed infodump. It's very very very poorly, sloppily written, like 99% of this story. Combined with Shouma's identity as a human-Granute hybrid and likely as the Wolf Granute who kidnapped his mom 18 years ago, this infodump about Stomach will likely be used as a plot device to create a conflict/tension between Hanto and Shouma when Hanto finally learns the truth about Shouma and the connection with his past. KR Gavv Caking form looks very nice. And yes, like I said last week, Shita and Jeebh are getting their asses kicked by KR Gavv Caking form. Shita is even seemingly killed in this episode, although her Mimic Key might've stored some of her memories. Last week I asked why Shita smashed her smartphone in rage. Now I get it. Who needs a smartphone when you're killed in the next episode, haha. Like shown @ 22:09, Jeebh is likely going crazy over Shita's death. Kenzou is visited by Nyelv @ 22:42. Nyelv is likely about to enter the next phase of his experiment. And what about Kenzou? Hasn't he ever suspected that he could be manipulated by Nyelv when he's given the crucial information and resources about Granutes by Nyelv all this time? Even if Nyelv is in his human disguise when he meets Kenzou and claims to be a human as well when he's corresponding with Kenzou, if Kenzou has common sense then he should have already asked himself how the heck a mere human could get a boatload of crucial information and resources about Granutes. Next week: The debut of Lage 9 as Stomach's procurement supervisor. The crab Granute says that he wants to leave Stomach. This episode will likely feature a conflict between Shouma who believes that the crab Granute can start his life over and Hanto who doesn't share Shouma's belief. Lango is informed that Shita was defeated by Shouma/the red Gavv. What's he gonna do about it? His plan to marry Shita and Jeebh off to wealthy and powerful Granutes is virtually falling apart because Shita is dead and Jeebh is going crazy. Well, he can only blame himself because he was the one who kicked them out of Stomach's base camp in the human world. I can't really comprehend how Lango is thinking. He had a good plan in one episode and casually sabotaged it in the next episode with zero rationale. If his thinking is as weird as I thought, then he could be using Jeebh as the first test subject for Nyelv's new Granute-only transformation belt/device, now that Nyelv has gotten his hands on several Gochizous and meets Kenzou in person. If my hypothesis is correct then the New Year's Rider could be Jeebh, who would also sport a new look as hinted when he cuts his hair in episode 14 @ 22:09. Mmmaaayyybbbeee... |

Is Gavv the first main rider to have a summoning gimmick as his first power up? Usually such ability was reserved for final forms. While the CaKing Gochizo isn't one time use, using it will drain away the user's stamina.
Glad to see that Shoma is willing to pull the trigger when it comes to killing one of his half-siblings, though he's not very happy about it in the end. Unfortunately, he's only able to take down Siita, leaving Jiip to become increasingly insane as a result. With that being said, looks like Bouche wouldn't be beating the allegation that he's a shitty father anytime soon... And looks like I was right about Suga, as the mad scientist is shown to be acquainted with Nyelv as shown in the final scene of the episode... |

Man what an excellent episode.
Sachika be checking every box on the best girl list. Casually grabbing her cute ass bat to cave in some skulls after they beat up her bestie, I love it. I adore the Caking form. Really cool design, the ability to summon minions is awesome and fitting, and the action is so well done in choreography, stunt work and effects. Super fun to watch. I like how the show made me feel things for the twins without taking away their responsibility for the situation they were in. Shoma had exactly the right comeback for them and their answer fully cemented their demise. Still, I felt like it would’ve been nice if they would’ve just gotten along, Shoma did so too, but it didn’t stop him from doing the right thing. Letting them go is too dangerous. Siita dying is an excellent twist, holy crap. That I did not see coming. That’s some good drama. Now they are really separated for good, now Jiip will go completely off the rails. Next week seems super interesting too, Nyelv meeting up with Suga? A chance of reforming a Granute? Sign me up, that’s some good stuff. Double thumps up once again for Gavv, this show rules. |

Such an excellent episode. Both the design of Caking form and the debut fight scene are worthy of a Final Form already.
Prior to the debut of the series I was rather skeptic about the design and show premise. I?m glad I was so wrong, the series at this point seems better in my personal ranking than every other Reiwa Era show, except for Geats which is still sitting a the the top (just for clarity sake, from best to worst it goes like this: Geats, Gavv, Revice, Zero-One, Gotchard, Saber). |

Demise for one of the major characters.
Hanto openly shows his care for Shoma by looking after him, carrying him, and feeding him whenever Shoma asks. The scene in which Shoma is found and asks for food reminds me of earlier episodes when he was discovered by strangers, but this time, it's someone he knows well. However, Hanto begins to uncover more of Shoma's secrets during Shoma's confrontation with the twins, where Shoma admits that they are his mother's murderers. Hanto also learns that the Granutes are attacking under the orders of Stomach Inc. Shoma sharing his cake with Sachika happens earlier than I expected, rather than at the end of the episode, which is often the case in other KR episodes. The boys work hard to keep Rider's belongings a secret from Sachika, sidelining her even though it's clear that something is wrong with Shoma, who is hurt. Sachika even considers calling the police, taking a picture as evidence, or trying to help them with a baseball bat. It seems she doesn't remember how strong Shoma is from his previous jobs. If Shoma understands how kind Sachika is, there should be no issue with Sachika knowing that Shoma is a Rider and a half-Granute; she should accept him unconditionally. Though it may be done because she is a normal human and more vulnerable to Granutes, but she also previously participated in the Rider's fight against Granute Dean. So far, Sachika's influence on Shoma is shown passively, where living with her provides him with more energy and motivates him to make specifically her happy. The backstory of the twins is further revealed during their birthday celebration. The party is short-lived, as their other siblings quickly return to work. No one pays them any attention to them due to how busy everyone is, except each other, which explains their devotion to each other. They feel jealous of Bouche giving more attention to Shoma, despite that he's being abusive. They only hate Shoma by this, but not others, due to anti-human views the Stomachs have. However, it doesn't minimize how evil they're, as Shoma points out, that they're murdering Michiru and also harming many innocents just to lure him. They also declare to attempt to destroy humanity out of spite. They also abuse their own Agents who failed to find Shoma. Though Shoma's not happy about it and imagines if they can actually get along, Shoma'd finish them off to stop them, albeit only Shita got killed. Shoma has this thought about them despite never doing so for Bouche. Shoma doesn't only have Gochizos as minions, but with CaKing, now he has his own Agent-like minions as well in Whip Soldiers, combating the twins summoning Agents in a bigger number than ever. Gavv breaking a bridge to use its remains to squash his enemies is gold here. CaKing weakness is the form being draining. I thought Nyelv showing up may get the twins saved, but he didn't. But now it's revealed that Nyelv knows Suga, visiting him at the end of the episode. Quote:

Pretty heartbreaking that in order to keep his promise to Sachika, Shouma breaks Shiita and Jeebh's promise to each other.

But Geats had its fair share of issues. Still overall better than Revice or Zero-One IMO although I liked watching those two as well. Especially Zero-One, I have a soft spot for that show. Gotchard and Saber, well. They sure happened. And I was there when it did. Can’t say I enjoyed it much. Quote:

But I do feel pity for them; they are a product of their environment. The scenes when they were kids were very sad, from their perspective it really did look like no one cared about them and Shoma had his mom and took away "their" dad to boot. I really appreciate the imaginative scene of young Shoma eating cake with his siblings, because like him I wish that would’ve been real too. |

So, Jiip a possible candidate for Bitter Gavv, yay or nay?

This week: Sheeta gets creamed and recieves her just desserts. Jeebh lost his batter half and his world has gone to crumbs. Hanto finds there may be more layers to the conspiracy than he realised. CaKing is amazing, and the Whip Solders are just the icing on top. Overall, Gavv keeps cooking.
Sachika willing to throw hands out of concern is nice. I really hope she becomes a Rider. Sheeta and Jeebh genuinely loving each other (as siblings, let's make that clear) while looking down on humans just shows how screwed-up the Stomach Family. Excellent writing; humanises them (ironically) and fleshes out their characters. I still think they deserved it (as Shouma rightfully points out how their love for each other does not justify their wanton kidnapping and slaughtering of humans), but on the other hand I can't help but feel sorry for them. It's nice seeing both sides of the coin. Also, note that Shouma stopped calling them nii-san and nee-san, implying that he no longer sees them as family or has moved on. It was a subtle yet powerful moment. I still love Gavv's little gags, like the Whip Soldier throwing up. They're short enough that they don't overstay their welcome, frequent enough that we maintain some levity, yet are timed well enough that they don't detract from the drama. No wonder the Gochizos are selling like hotcakes in Japan (pun unintended but not unwelcome). I do wonder how the rest of the Stomach Family will respond. Shouma killed one of them, they might actually see him as a serious threat now. Also, big surprise, Suga is in collab with Nyelv. Except, no, not a surprise. Next week: beating up the drug addict who wants to get out of the toxic abusive pyramid scheme black company. Yuck. Watching Saber and Revice back-to-back was what caused my toku burnout and made me skip Geats and Gotchard. Shame honestly, Saber has some of my most favorite suits in Kamen Rider.
