Shouma says @ 00:03 that Hanto's mom was killed and turned into Dark Snack spice because of him. Whaaattt, Shouma?
![]() ![]() ![]() Shouma says @ 00:18 that KR Bitter Gavv that he thought he had defeated appeared even stronger. Last week in my post in episode 23 thread here I mentioned that the Vrocan Spicy RG had been created by Dark Shouma #1 in episode 22 and had also been destroyed along with Dark Shouma #1 in episode 22 as wel, but I've just realized there's something weird in Shouma's monologue @ 00:18 here. If Dark Shouma #2/KR Bitter Gavv is another clone that's separate from Dark Shouma #1, then Dark Shouma #2's growth in strength should be a restart, not a continuation of Dark Shouma #1's growth during episode 21-22. If Dark Shouma #2 is a completely new, different individual that's separate from Dark Shouma #1, then whatever happened to Dark Shouma #1 won't affect Dark Shouma #2. It means Dark Shouma #2 should have the same level of strength like Dark Shouma #1's initial level of strength. Another instance of bizarro reasoning. The high-speed chase from @ 00:25-01:10 only ended in Shouma getting exhausted. It'd be different if Lage 9 joined the chase, not left behind to take care of an injured human at the end of episode 23. So convenient! Oh, and like I said in my post in episode 23 thread here: "If this [high-speed chase] scene doesn't finally make the activities of the Kamen Riders the hottest, biggest topic in national TV stations in the next episode, then all people in this story (not just the main characters) do not have normal, healthy, and well-functioning logic, rationality, and common sense." Shouma is fainting @ 01:18 due to exhaustion, aaannnddd... Sachika conveniently appears at the scene at the right time to pick up Shouma. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awfully, laughably convenient! ![]() Sachika @ 03:34 is remembering a scene several moments ago when Hanto told her that another Dark Shouma had appeared and caused ruckus. She also told Hanto that she had known that Hanto was the chocolate Kamen Rider. Credits to Sachika because she's not as dense as Hanto and Shouma are, haha. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kataro @ 04:26 is showing Hanto the location of a warehouse at a pier where he said that there are monster activities there. His excuse is that it was his old workplace where he needed to return the uniform to. From his expression @ 04:49 Kataro is likely scheming something. Hanto enters the warehouse, and he's splashed with octopus ink. Kataro reappears along with the owner of the yakiniku restaurant in episode 23 last week and reveals that the owner wanted revenge for one of Hanto's articles. Hanto despises Kataro for selling him out and says that friendship doesn't last forever. Just when Kataro is walking away from the crime scene with his 30K JPY payment, he's Hito Pressed by the owner who turns out to be a Granute in disguise. Surprise surprise. So yeah, my post in episode 23 thread here is confirmed to be correct in this scene. Hanto is trapped by Kataro's false alarm call, and this scene, especially his statement that friendship doesn't last forever likely also confirms my hypothesis in that post that he needs to be isolated from Shouma (and likely other characters as well) and be driven to loneliness in order to prepare him to enter the dumb, stubborn Sad Boi dark secondary Rider phase. Sooooo, maybe I should welcome Sad Boi Hanto? Haha. ![]() ![]() Gavv 24 @ 05.35 ![]() Gavv 24 @ 07.04 ![]() In the scene @ 07:22 Lage 9/KR Vram intends to kill Dente for creating Dark Snacks that caused Komel's death, but Dente doesn't seem to mind because he's actually feeling remorseful for what he did in the past. Dente thinks that he should've talked to Zomb to change his mind, not run away to the human world. Is he telling the truth or is he just pretending? And there's 1 huge logical anomaly (among a gazillion others) regarding Dente that still hasn't been answered like I've asked since my post in episode 12 thread here: "Why did Stomach let Dente, the most brilliant scientist there, go MIA [or rather, AWOL] for almost 2 decades? Why did they seem to do nothing to prevent Dente from deserting his post? It makes no sense at all for a big corporation to just let their most brilliant, important scientist go MIA [or rather, AWOL] and did nothing to prevent it nor respond to it." It'd make no sense at all if Stomach CEO, whether it's Zomb, Bouche, or Lango, has never attempted to search Dente, be it in the Granut world or in the human world. Dente (Stomach's most brilliant scientist) could've leaked crucial trade secrets of Dark Snack production to Stomach's competitors, or even leaked them to the Granute police/law enforcement as a justice collaborator, so if Stomach CEO's are sane people with normal, healthy, and well-functioning logic, rationality, and common sense, then they would've already considered Dente's disappearance a catastrophic risk for Stomach, and they would've scrambled to search for Dente wherever he was. Dark Shouma #2 has nothing to do, so, as usual, he decides to spend his spare time causing random ruckus @ 09:01, haha. But wait! There's more stupidity coming from the owner/the octopus Granute! He said he wanted to torture Hanto, and he did, but of course, he always gives Hanto a chance to escape by putting Hanto's Valen Buster at arm's reach like shown @ 11:07, haha. ![]() ![]() Gavv 24 @ 11.07 ![]() Gavv 16 @ 05.13 ![]() As expected, the Chocold RG manages to break free from the owner/the octopus Granute's ink restrain, and the rest of the debut of KR Valen Chocold form is predictable. Lage 9 says @ 13:01 that he made Dente his ally for his future plan, and thinks that Dente might be stronger than he previously thought. Perhaps it will have something to do with his upgrade form, or even create a copy of his Vrastum Gear for Hanto/KR Valen's upgrade form (Frappe Custom form) which was shown in recent leak to use Vrastum Gear. The question is still the same: Who produced the Frappe RG (and the Doppudding and Purujelly RG's too)? It can't be Shouma because the RG's produced by Shouma do not have tubular shape like those. Sachika is trying to fight Dark Shouma #2/KR Bitter Gavv @ 13:23 using a hand saw. Lage 9/KR Vram comes to the rescue but is still overwhelmed. Sachika decides to give ice cream to Shouma, who is reminded when his mom wished there had been ice when he had cold. When I was a kid, I also once ate ice cream when I got cold, and my cold was getting worse, haha. ![]() ![]() The weird thing in this scene is that besides Sachika, there's only 1 human (the ice cream vendor), who flees since Dark Shouma #2/KR Bitter Gavv causes explosions. Strangely, after that much commotion, why aren't there many people (and the police!) coming there and crowding around the crime scene? This scene (and many similar scenes in this series) feels very unnatural due to the lack of people. It feels too strangely sterile. It feels too silent, hollow, and empty. I certainly don't remember Tokyo's public places being empty, especially during daylight and peak hours like this. This is quite likely due to the shooting (especially for the fight scenes that involve actual Rider suits/costumes) was done in a very discreet manner that didn't even involve extras to fill the scene. The production crews sterilized the locations from outsiders to keep prying eyes out and prevent leaks, and created very sterile-looking scenes like this. Surprise surprise. Yet, the looks and designs of the Riders were still leaked, and judging from the 95% accuracy, very likely leaked by someone very closely tied with the design/fabrication/production teams, or even within the design/fabrication/production teams themselves. The paradox of secret: The more you protect a secret, the higher the chance it will leak, and the worse the outcome when it does leak. TLDR: The best kept secrets are hidden in plain view. That, or Toei better upgrade their operational security, because it's very clearly lacking, haha. ![]() Sachika uploads the previous fright scene to social media. Isn't it very dangerous, because now the police/authorities has more than enough data to track Shouma's location and compromise his anonymity? Ah, never mind. I bet the police would still do nothing to respond to the obvious threats. It's KR Gavv, what else should I expect, haha. ![]() ![]() Gavv 24 @ 22.21 ![]() And speaking of Jeebh, he's still MIA. # of episodes without Jeebh: 8. My only conclusion: The writers wrote themselves to a corner and couldn't do anything to insert Jeebh into the story, so he needed to be sidelined until his advertising tenure begins, very likely after Kenzou reveals himself as the creator of the Dark Shoumas and transforms into KR Bake. I've got nothing more to say, so let me repost my point about Jeebh in episode 23 thread here: "And hooooooooooooooooooooly crap, Jeebh is still frakkin' absent!!! Where the heck are you, Jeebh??? ![]() ![]() ![]() The weirdest thing is that the writers still could't even deal with Jeebh's storyline, yet they added a new villain (Zomb) into the story and potentially made the story much harder to resolve. They hadn't solved the previous problem yet they created a new one. Also, Kenzou is starting another manipulation, adding another difficulty in resolving Jeebh's storyline." Let me repost my point about Jeebh in episode 21 thread here: "Jeebh is still absent after his last appearance in episode 16. He doesn't appear at all since then, not even 1 frame. The fact that Jeebh is still nowhere to be seen could mean that he'd likely transform into the 5th Rider or the 6th Rider, since there has been a rumor about Kenzou transforming into KR Bake. Perhaps Jeebh would be one of the normal Granutes who are possessed by Dark Shouma's cells and gets his Gavv corrupted, or perhaps he's the final user of the Henshin Belt Bitter Gavv. That, or he's simply forgotten by the writers due to the super duper hyper mega ultra convoluted plot, haha. ![]() ![]() Like I said in my post in episode 22 thread here: "My only words for Jeebh: You either die a villain, or live long enough to see yourself become a forgotten villain. The worst fate is not being a dead character, but being a character forgotten by its own writers. *facepalm" Hanto says @ 22:36 that as long as he has the Chocold RG, he can defeat all Granutes by himself without relying on Shouma anymore. So yeah, my hypothesis in episode 23 thread here that Hanto and Shouma wouldn't meet at all in episode 24 is proven to be correct by this scene. Like I elaborated above, Hanto will be isolated from Shouma (and likely other characters as well) and be driven to loneliness in order to prepare him to enter the dumb, stubborn Sad Boi dark secondary Rider phase, and he'll likely gain his final form after defeating Kenzou/KR Bake(?). Welcome, Sad Boi Hanto! Haha. ![]() Next week: Just after I've finished typing the previous paragraph, it's shown in the preview section that Lage 9 is wearing Hapipare uniform. So yeah, it pretty much confirmed that he's working there. A kabutomushi Granute is disguising himself as a food vlogger? When will KR Bake debut? I think his debut could be between episodes 26-28, similar to KR Platinum Gotchard who debuted in episode 27, though I'm not sure what to do with the remaining Dark Shoumas. There are at least 8 copies of Dark Shoumas, so perhaps the remaining 4 or 5 copies would likely be repurposed into Rider troopers, attached to other normal Granutes, absorbed by Kenzou, and or claimed by Nyelv. There's even the possiblity that one of the Dark Shoumas could likely defect and defied the Master's(Kenzou?) orders. Bonus hypothesis: The crucial intel regarding Stomach as the producer of Dark Snacks could've likely been leaked to Lage 9 by Dente or Zomb (if he was somehow still alive several months ago), which could explain how Lage 9, a mere ordinary civilian with virtually zero detective/investigative skills, was able to connect the dots and trace the name Dark Snacks to Stomach corporation in just several months, while the Granute police/law enforcement authority are still in the dark after 2 decades(!) of Stomach's Dark Snack operation. |

Caught up with Gavv. Well, this episode was an excellent conclusion to the previous one with clues for the future. Shouma finally overcame his depression, crippling weakness and constipation (seriously, it would be better if he just couldn't create Gochizo), and was able to defeat the second, but obviously not the last, evil doppelganger. Blizzard Sorbet looks good and is amazingly functional. Its chaotic, frosty style is perfect for fighting the lowly but dangerous Bitter Gavv. And in general, these icy mountains looked simply magical. Honestly, I hope that sorbet will replace the cake, because, despite the entertainment and unusualness of the king of sweets, ice cream is somehow cuter. Although, the flashback with mom looks very far-fetched and is needed to justify getting a strong Gochizo. I think it would have been more correct to show it when Shouma was lying in bed.
But for the second time in the show, Hanto endures a night of suffering. It's funny that he was overcome by being doused with dark, sticky goo. Valen should be accustomed to this. And yes, Kotaro, with his greed and stupidity, unwittingly planted in Hanto the idea that friends can betray. And this will clearly cause more harm in the future. But I still think that if his distance from the rest of the heroes leads Hanto into darkness, it will be more like Kento Fukamiya or the purple bull from Geats taking on an overwhelming burden. And even in comparison with them, he has an excuse in the form of the manipulations of Kenzo and the dark Gochizo. Although you should not underestimate Hanto: he may well calm down, collect his thoughts and understand that he is being used. At the same time, Lakia finally takes the vacated place of Shouma's closest associate. He spares Denta, choosing to create a better future instead of living in the past.He comes to the aid of Gavv at the right moment, meets Sachika and, as the announcement shows, also gets a job with her. Apparently, so as not to completely wither away from boredom. In general, so far his future seems optimistic, but I?m sure the writers have a couple of unpleasant twists in store for the good Granute. But the main star of this episode, in my opinion, is without a doubt Sachika. Now she is aware of everything and tries to be as helpful as possible. Yes, she cannot fight (although she tries very funny), but she supports Shouma in every possible way (for now only him, but this is only for now) psychologically, medially and, if possible, physically. Overall, I'm glad that such an active character was allowed to be more involved in the plot. P.S. driving an ATV under a bulldozer looked cool and is also worth mentioning. P.P.S. Interestingly, Lakia has not killed a single Granute yet. This may be due to the peculiarities of the plot, which has moved away from the MoTW approach, but perhaps there is something more hidden behind it. Last edited by Mesnick; 02-23-2025 at 06:43 AM.. |

Gavv's super form debut.
In the latest episode, we once again experience the familiar trope of a hero being reckless and not listening to their allies, as Shoma prepares to fight Bitter Gavv while Sachika tries to stop him. I rather hope that Sachika's tendency to focus on making everyone happy is addressed in light of the people affected by Bitter Gavv's attacks tbh, perhaps Daiji could point out to Hiromi that you can't save everyone if you're dead. As Sachika now knows about Shoma's fight with the Granutes and Stomachs, she guesses that Hanto's the other Kamen Rider, which is right. It's not shown how Sachika and Hanto reconcile. Like usual supporting casts though, Sachika doesn't think about becoming one to help others like asking how Shoma or Hanto can become Riders, despite trying to jump to Gavv and Bitter Gavv's fight. Sachika has learned about Shoma's battles with the Granutes and Stomachs and correctly guesses that Hanto is the other Kamen Rider. The episode doesn't show how Sachika and Hanto reconciled. As with many supporting characters, Sachika doesn't consider becoming a Rider herself to help others like asking how Shoma or Hanto can become Riders, despite trying to jump to Gavv and Bitter Gavv's fight. Neon from Takebe's previous series was the one who realized that being a Rider would contribute more to helping people. Although Sachika claims she can assist with snacks in the previous episode, the new Blizzardsorbet form is not what Sachika intends tbh. She merely thinks that eating ice cream would feel good. I expected Sachika to intentionally choose a snack that would enhance Shoma's abilities, but I don't understand why ice cream would be stronger than other snacks, serving as Gavv’s super form, like TaJaDor from Ankh's Core Medals. Similar to Mai from Takebe's previous series, Sachika doesn't steal; she pays for items from a vacant shop. Blizzardsorbet's power, as anticipated for a form based on ice cream, allows manipulation of ice elements. Its fighting debut is quite devastating, creating large icicles. However, the drawback of the Blizzardsorbet form is that it melts like ice cream, limiting its use to a temporary basis. Sachika also has a moment to take a picture of Gavv battling Bitter Gavv, though it's not particularly convincing since they are both in Rider form rather than in their human forms so there's 2 Hidekazu Chinens. It turns out that Rakia is still seeking revenge against Dente, likely pretending to be cooperative only when Shoma is present. Shoma's influence on others is evident as Dente is inspired to bring joy through his snacks after witnessing Shoma confront the Stomach siblings, indicating that Dente is clearly on the side of good now. It spreads to Rakia too, who notices that Shoma isn't blinded by rage toward Dente (and you know, Rakia himself too), allowing them to make the best use of them. It's also Shoma-centric in how Sachika views Rakia as a friend, based on him fighting with Shoma. While it's been noted that Valen primarily loses his Granute fights or only engages in battles alongside Gavv, this episode showcases his best performance so far to defeat Smeeal, Otake's friend. Hanto still cares for Kataro despite his betrayal, likely due to its sudden nature. The scene where Hanto realizes he doesn’t need to rely on Shoma anymore thanks to his new Chocold Gochizo is portrayed in a rather sinister manner, dunno what'd be his next steps after reconciling with Shoma.

As for ice cream, the calculation was not for the superform. Sachika just wanted to strengthen Shouma, and ice cream was the closest available remedy. It's just lucky that Shouma has this sweetness associated with a warm (ironic!) memory from childhood. This is what caused the appearance of the superform instead of the usual Gochizo. Just like the cake create the long-lived super Gochizo, not so much because of the sweetness, but because of its joint preparation with Sachika. P.S. But the Gochizo macaron has a sad fate. And only because Shouma came across the bright cookie at the wrong time. |

Two fantastic action scenes, both Chocold and Blizzardsorbet's debuts are awesome.
Sachika continues to be the best, my heart can’t take it, what a wonderful human being. And I like Lakia slowly warming up a bit and promptly getting integrated into Hapipare! The preview looks super fun in that regard. If I had to criticize anything - Blizzardsorbet does feel like it comes out of nowhere to me. Caking had proper build-up and a reason to exist, Blizzardsorbet does not really fix or mend Shouma's troubles in a meaningful way, nor does it seem like it was the missing puzzle piece needed to put him on the right track, so it feels a bit random. More proper buildup was definitely needed for this one. |

![]() It's a double scoop deal on power-up debuts this week on Gavv, and one of this episode's biggest strengths is how it makes that fact important to the story. Rather than just doing both at once for the sake of it, the contrast between Shouma and Hanto's sides of the plot serves to better highlight what makes each of those sides significant. For Hanto, it's all about isolating him. He's thrown into a trap as a direct result of a friend abusing his trust, and is forced to find a way out of the situation entirely on his own. Notably -- and this is something I had pointed out to me -- this is actually the first time Valen has defeated a Granute on his own since all the way back in his debut? Part of that is just because he spends a lot of time being a great team player, man of honor that he is, but between that fact and the repeated instances of cliffhangers where he gets blown up, it's probably fair to say Valen has been consistently portrayed as the weakest of the show's Riders, in a strictly physical sense. Like, thanks to that wounded debut, Hanto's human vulnerability is sort of baked into the DNA of the character. It remains to be seen how much of an unhealthy complex this actually becomes for Hanto, but it's not that hard to see why he would be tempted by a power that allows him to stand his ground all on his own, even if heading down that path may turn out to be a mistake. For Shouma, it's all about reaffirming how much he needs the support of his friends. Literally the *exact* opposite story. Even though Gavv might come off as tougher in a fight, every ounce of power Shouma has ever received has been because of people in his life who help pull him up from the darkness he was born into. So of course, keeping with the pattern, it's not anything he himself directly does that puts him in a position to defeat Bitter Gavv here. Instead, it's Sachika being there to help when he's feeling under the weather. Instead, it's Vram being there to buy the two of them the time they need. It's the same big picture stuff about the show that snapped into focus with Caking's debut, but it succeeds in a different way -- a strong counterpoint to the plotline it's complementing, despite being less emotionally impactful. (Likely by intention? It seems especially telling that Caking retains its distinction as Shouma's only Gochizo that sticks around after being used.) BlizzardSorbet Form itself, by the way, is also succeeding in a different way from Caking. That suit still wears the crown aesthetically for me when it comes to Gavv, but I fundamentally can't hate that Shouma now has a form with a Wizard robe, you know? Some pretty wizard-y powers going on too! He's even buffing his physical weapon with added elemental damage! The icy abilities make for a thoroughly entertaining fight scene, and the end result is that even though I don't like the suit as much as Caking, I might enjoy the fighting style just a bit more? It's a tough call. Sure, a form where the Rider made out of food spends whole fights licking himself is weird and fun, but then, so are Whipped Soldiers supporting their frosting-covered majesty. No losing with this show, really. Chocold was pretty neat for what it was too!
