Picked up my copy of Kuuga from the NY Store while on lunch break! It cost $75 USD, but with taxes took me to $81.66. Posting pics here from my office desk, but I'd like to get better pics later. The box looks nice, but it's more of a standard SHF box than the iPhone box-style releases we know SKC for. The trays are still using the more ecofriendly material that started with Faiz.
First things first, this is using the updated head mold (that started with Dragon/Pegasus, I think?). However, instead of the forehead gem being painted red, the horns look to be cast in translucent red and painted gold this time (similar to the existing bracelets/anklets). Speaking of the gold, it looks to be a little darker? Could just be my lighting and I'd need my original figure to compare at home. The red is definitely more matte to evoke the original show, and is especially noticeable on the forearm guards -- these used to be metallic red regardless of if this was the original/Onodera/50th version, but now it's a flat red. The Arcle now has the Linto glyphs at the front picked out in black paint. The core mold itself hasn't changed, so neither has the articulation changed. Accessory spread is the same as the other Mighty Kuuga releases: Two fists, two gesture hands, two calm hands, and a thumbs up (right). Overall if you don't already have a Kuuga, this is actually not bad given how much any of the other versions run for on the aftermarket. Otherwise, I'd say if you already have a Mighty release you can probably skip it UNLESS you're a diehard for the change in finish (like I am)! Last edited by velencourte; 05-02-2025 at 11:54 AM.. |

Hmm. While I'm kinda torn on the changes to the head, everything else seems to be an improvement. Thanks for the photos!

I missed preorders for Spider Kumonos on Hobby Genki, Nin-Nin, HLJ, and Tokullectibles. Anyone have any leads on where it might still be available?

Looks like Amiami still has a lag on him so you might want to keep an eye on it.
