Here’s something I’ve been thinking of, would the story be better served if Shouma were a full Granute as opposed to half?

I don't think so.
A lot of the story hinges on him being a half Granute. His siblings ostracizing him and him growing up with a parental figure that cares for him.
It's also part of why his father even gave him a modicum of special treatment compared to his siblings, due to his Gavv not functioning properly, which was part of the resentment Shiita and Jeep held towards him.

While the story could work with him being a full Granute, it would need to become a lot more contrived.

Interesting question. Not necessarily better, but certainly different. I imagine Shouma would get close with Michiru, in this case his stepmother, who teaches him the value of humans and delicious snacks. Him having a weak Gavv needing remodification would simply be explained as a disability. After the death of Bouche, the Stomachs would go after their heretic brother Shouma and Michiru, resulting in Michiru getting Hitopressed and Shouma escaping to Earth alone and changing his surname to Inoue. He would later befriend Sachika, who's secretly a human-Granute hybrid born from a romance between a reformed part-timer and a human who made them change their ways.

Well, that's my take on the premise anyway.

I question why Shouma needs to have a human mom.
I do not think a reason was given why Bouche wanted to conceive a child with a human, nor do I think we have any good moments of Shouma and Bouche together.
Bouche seemingly wanted Michiru unhappy to make sure she would not become ingredients.
But if he wanted to keep her safe, why not just an executive order for no one to go after her on Earth?
He told his other kids to not harm Michiru and Shouma, but did he think they would not try anything after his death?
His Gavv can still be defective, prompting Dente to turn it into the Red version.
Him being more emphatic and not in agreement with Stomach Inc can be the reason for being an outcast instead of being half human.
I believe the more you think about it the messier it becomes.

I feel at some point this becomes questioning a story solely for the sake of questioning it as there's nothing particularly bad here. It's like if someone called Star Wars bad because Luke Skywalker having little to no experience flying was able to make a one in a million shot.



Why did he have a human wife and had a kid with her? You can say Bouche loved her.
Should we have had moments of Bouche and Shouma before the former died? Not really, it's made clear that the Stomach family is incredibly dysfunctional as a whole, so this isn't a thing just for Shouma and Michiru. After all, Lango didn't care about the wellbeing of Jeebh and Shiita, Nyelv performanced backalley surgery on his own brother, Glotta's trying desperately to keep them together, etc.
Why did Bouche not simply stop attacking humans? Because then he'd have to stop working on dark confections entirely, and if he can keep Michiru alive for certain under his watch, then he wouldn't have to sacrifice his business, for he is a bad person.
Again, tbe family is dysfunctional, Bouche likely never expected it nor would he have reason to. "My word, they seem to be giving Michiru and Shouma are hard time. Marvelous, they must have been listening to me telling them to make them miserable for the sake of survivability, and as I am not omnipotent, I have no reason to expect them to change their attitudes when I die!"
Why not just make Shouma a disabled Granute? Well, there's no other human Granute hybrids, Shouma's the only one of his kind. As disabled people exist, accomodations would also exist, meaning it would arguably be more questionable to change for you as why hasn't other disabled Granute become a Rider?
Why would he change like that? He wouldn't have a human mother who he saw being miserable from her people being eaten, he would have been raised to simply become part of the company without a shred of remorse like the rest of the Stomach siblings.

Not to mention that Shoma being half-human/half-Granute is important because it makes him a total outsider for both sides. He's monstrous because of being half-Granute to humans, but he's a pathetic weakling (at the beginning) to Granutes. Let's not forget that even when he transformed for the first time against Hound, he still had some difficulty fighting him. A part of his journey is accepting that while on the surface, he doesn't belong to either world, that he has the right to create his own where he does belong, with Hanto, Sachika, Lakia, and Dente.

This really is just questioning something for the sake of questioning. And I hate this sort of question as a criticism. It's fine for fanfiction, but like, asking if a story would improve if a gigantic aspect of it was changed has way more ripple effects than people think. We'd get an entirely different story altogether.

I feel I’m gonna skip today’s episode as I fear Shoma & Rakia to be rejected.

Just wish Masaru learns of Shoma being Michiru’s kid & his nephew and hears from Shoma all that’s happened. I want him to be a part of it!
