We're finally introduced to Bellum, the second Calamity general (after Pestis from the summer movie). Looks like the generals are based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Not only that, it turns out Mr. Shining Knife was a member of the Calamity's forces who lost his memories!!!

Speaking of Shining Knife, talk about a mood whiplash! Didn't expect things to go this dark for our two love birds...

great episode, i get a feeling in the next episode sumino is going to fight hoeru to get all the rings because she's really desperate to get her sister back.

A turning point. We learn the whole truth about Rei, but it turns out to be much more comprehensive than his connection with Rikuo. It turns out there's another side to the conflict over the rings: Calamity, whose goal is the destruction of the world. And so far, they seem much more dangerous than Bridan. It's also interesting to see how much independence Rei had in his actions, given that he was under Belum's influence. I suspect they won't completely absolve him of responsibility, but will instead make the situation analogous to the No-One deal, where the kaijin takes a person's thoughts and desires and elevates them to absolute power. I'll also assume that Calamity himself is inside Kuon, so saving him won't be possible. Or perhaps he'll need to collect all the rings to do so.
It's also interesting that Shining Knife also turned out to be Calamity's partially amnesiac servant, which is why their playful argument with Sweet Cake had a rather ominous and tragic ending. I still hope they find a way to revive Cake.
In short, Calamity's presence changes the situation dramatically. I wonder if this will lead to an alliance, even a temporary one, between the Gozyugers and Bridan. Of course, we can criticize TegaSword, TegaJune, and Kumada for withholding such important information, but we must keep in mind that the three believed Calamity to be destroyed and didn't even count on its power being revived.
The next episode promises a new power-up for Hoeru, which should help against a new threat. We'll see what happens.
