Honestly though, Denziman is a dull, dulllll show. It's not like it wasn't funny or never had good episodes, but as a whole I found it to be a slog that didn't really have anything going for it that another Sentai show didn't do better. In particular it struck me as very similar to Goranger if you shuffled the character traits around, made the show less absurd, and just lowered the quality all around.

The fact they cast a slightly scruffy older dog as IC instead of some ultra cute puppy honestly made him even more adorable. I read that the original dog that played IC died partway through the show, which is why he is largely depicted through stock footage and a puppet later on. The Sentai wiki says he died of natural causes during the filming of episode 38, which is oddly emotional since it was an episode about how people should treat animals with kindness. The whole situation also makes IC's sacrifice at the end of the story hit harder. I definitely get the impression the staff wanted to do a tribute to the little guy with that ending.

He's a lot like Asuka from Goranger in that respect. Always getting in trouble.

Also, can I just say I think it's very funny that I have gotten way more responses posting about a Sentai show from 1980 than one from 2020.

Tatsuya was pretty neck and neck with Daigoro for a while for me, but Daigoro managed to win in the end. Tatsuya was the main focus of what I think was Denziman's best episode though, the one with the woman who unknowingly adopted a Vader Monster as her son, as the son slowly loses control of his own behavior as his true nature begins to surface as he matures. The way Tatsuya wanted to help them so desperately because of how he saw his own family in them was some genuinely good drama.

Akira... well, she certainly got more focus than Kiyama or Akagi, but I also thought she was often treated as less competent than her male teammates in fights, which was too bad. I know it's an older show, but I think Peggy was treated better in Goranger. (Person who has only seen Goranger, watching her second Showa Sentai: Getting a lot of 'Goranger' vibes from this...)
I might be to blame for this, as I did my "Sparkling Rewatch" of that show in this thread 4 months before you posted about it.

Goes well with a piping hot cup of traditional green tea, preferably plain old matcha. However, any other regular green tea will do IMO.

![]() Technically speaking, this may have been a Korean-style sweet red bean bread, since there are a lot of Korean immigrants in my area and not so many from Japan. Still, any difference from anpan was likely marginal, it had a light yet chewy bread encasing a generous portion of sweet red bean paste. I had matcha making supplies at home, but no actual matcha powder, so I settled on a nice sencha green tea. The slightly bitter vegetal taste made a good contrast with the sweetness of the anpan, very complimentary. I definitely see why anpan is considered such a go-to snack now. The other bread behind the anpan was a fried bread with a vegetable curry filling by the way. It was a little oily, but I liked it even better than the anpan. Crunchy on the outside and the filling was packed with flavor! I've always liked savory foods more than sweet ones. ...I think I accidentally ate an early dinner between the two, but it was pretty great chowing down on bread and drinking hot tea while it was cold and rainy outside. Wait, wasn't this a Sentai thread at some point?! Last edited by GoldenXtreme; Yesterday at 05:11 PM.. |

Blame it on Daigoro.
![]() Heck, had you brought up Gorenger or Abaranger I would've mentioned curry rice and if the topic at hand was Carranger, probably katsudon because Megaranger vs Carranger exists.

Slightly later than my usual posting period, here?s?
Androzani?s Tsukai Detour And today, we?re going to be getting explosive with? Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger vs King-Ohger On the day of her forced marriage, Mira Shifuto finds herself instead being abducted at the altar by a handsome man in red with a cool high-tech convertible. He explains that he is Taiya Hando, a high-stakes delivery driver, and Mira?s boyfriend has hired him to rescue her. Mira's erstwhile groom and his associates are destroyed while chasing them when the Great Space Invasion Running Team Hashiriyan, an interplanetary mafia, arrives to conquer Earth. Inspired by Taiya?s defence of her as Bun Red, Mira asks to join him as part of his team of delivery specialists, Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. Boonboomger Taiya Hando/Bun Red: The Courier. As a child, he heard one of his classmates screaming in pain, and was unable to do anything to help. Thus, he made it his life?s mission to reach out and help anyone by running to them when they were screaming. Shortly prior to the series, he met Bundorio Bunderas and after learning that he?d been banned from the Big Bang Grand Prix, decided to devote himself to winning the race on his behalf. Taiya is a master of development and modification. He works as a "delivery man" with the cars he builds. When he likes a person or a thing, he says, "I love it! or "I bought it!" He has the ability to see things for what they really are, and he has a strong competitive instinct that leads him to make quick decisions and quick judgments. Even if there is a risk, he is the type that says, "Isn't it better to take the risk?" He is adept at using both rods and guns and is good at creative fighting according to the situation. Ishiro ?Shashiro? Meita/Bun Blue: The Informant, who acts as the second in command of the Boonboomgers. Ishiro Meita was born into a family of spies and trained to become one for as long as he can remember. Later in life, he enrolled in an espionage academy and graduated as its top performing student and began working as a freelance spy, with most of his clients coming from clandestine organisations. Two years prior to the series, his services were hired by Eiichiro Tokoyari, who wanted him to investigate an unknown object that recently fell from space and came into the possession of Taiya Hando. Infiltrating Taiya's estate, he was caught in a trap set by the former and come to discover the object Taiya recovered to be Bundorio Bunderas, the two told Ishiro their shared dream of competing in the Big Bang Grand Prix and Taiya would come to hire him as his informant. Since then, Ishiro would maintain regular contact with Taiya and would take on outlandish delivery jobs when asked. Ishiro is an "informant", a master of information gathering. Usually a freelance spy. He always considers risks and makes calm decisions. He is meticulous and cynical. He basically approves of Taiya's decisions, and fights alongside Taiya as if it were a "job he had contracted from Taiya". He has excellent dynamic vision and is good at precise movements. When he uses a gun, he is a one-hit wonder. He doesn't approve of anyone he is not close to using his nickname "Shashiro". Mira Shifuto/Bun Pink: The Driver. She joined the Boonboomgers after realising that she had no control over her own life (having to be rescued from a forced marriage by a man her boyfriend hired). Mira is a "driver", an expert in driving and maneuvering. She usually works part-time at various stores. Her pedal work technique is so good that both Taiya & Ishiro are amazed. She is a mood-maker and a troublemaker. After meeting Taiya, she began to show her true core strength. She fights intuitively with her unique sensibility. While usually a friendly and easygoing sweetheart, Mira has a hidden scary side when she is angered, going into a violent fury against villains who humiliate or imprison her that will not let up until they are defeated. She even in rare instances directs that anger towards her teammates if they get in her way during battle. Jou Akuse/Bun Black: The Policeman. Initially an ordinary officer caught up in the Hashiriyan?s attacks, he was appointed by the ISA?s Saibu Shirabe to act as the liaison between the Boonboomgers. As the contact point, though he expressed the desire to join the team as a Boonboomger, he was quickly rejected by Taiya. While processing the rejection, he saw a Kurumaju, alerted the team and worked to to help the people involved, allowing them to escape, and leading the Kurumaju to a warehouse, he was overpowered but the team arrived in time to help him. After demonstrating his determination and giving a satisfactory answer to why he wanted to be a hero, he received the Boonboom Change Ax, allowing him to transform into Bun Black. Jyo is a "policeman", a rookie cop who is passionate about justice. He usually patrols the town on his bicycle as a uniformed police officer. He is a serious and aggressive person. He is more rigid than flexible, and is confident in his physical strength. Much to Ishiro?s surprise, he is genuinely hot blooded and passionate about protecting the town and befriending the citizens. Genba Bureki/Bun Orange: The Suppiler, real name Genbard De Livery II, heir to the throne of Planet Bureki. Forcibly exiled from the planet after the Hashiriyan took it and its delivery lanes over, he escaped to Earth where he discovered thanks to Taiya that he could maintain a human disguise by consuming regular sugar intakes, and decided to join him in supplying various items he needed both for the BBG and as a Boonboomger to battle the Hashiriyan. After seeing the Boonboomgers had grown to the point they didn?t require his services, he chose to step out of his ?VIP seat? and use a second BoonBoom Change Ax to become Bun Orange and live Taiya?s dream with him. Genba is a "supplier," a master of procurement. He is a man who can be relied on to procure what he needs from anywhere. He has a gentle and soft manner. He is elusive and never shows his true feelings. He is more flexible than rigid and is good at fighting by taking advantage of his opponent's movements. He also has an affinity for lollipops, as he is often seen holding one or eating it, later revealed to be vital in maintaining his Human Disguise as he originally an Alien from Planet Bureki. However, upon Disrace's arrival to Earth, Genba's calm facade immediately turns into aggressive fury. By Genba's own accord, he's consumed by revenge upon seeing Disrace, thus prompting him to leave the Boonboomgers. As a result, he became cold and distant to his former comrades, ordering Mira & Jyo to cease contact with him, and even threatening Sakito at neck point to not interfere with his revenge. Fortunately, meeting with Akira Nijino and MadRex changes his whole perspective, and makes Genba realise his own mistake by letting Disrace manipulate his actions indirectly. With this realization and his friend's acceptance, Genba regained his composure and relaxed demeanor once more. Sakito Homura/Bun Violet: He is the best "Fixer" in the universe, able to sort out any kind of trouble. With his excellent physical abilities and vitality, he overcomes all kinds of adversity and forges ahead on the path he finds interesting. In his youth, he was friends with Kakeru Osada who he shared his card collection of famous racers with. Sakito would lose his parents in an accident at the age of 10, leaving him an orphan. One night, he meets Byun Diesel, who came from space alongside his companions, and requests them to take him to space, proclaiming there's nothing left for him on earth. Together, they have survived many ordeals. Sakito works for himself, only doing things that tend to benefit him. He is seen helping the Hashiriyans, and later the Boonboongers, but for a price. His ideals are selfish, and only acted upon if there is something to be gained. He would later open up and started to work alongside the rest of the team as part of the Boonboomgers. Allies Bundorio Bunderas: An alien mechanical lifeform and assistant to the Boonboomgers. He serves as the team's mechanic. Bundorio was once a racer in the Big Bang Grand Prix however he frequently lost races against Byun Diesel, his teammate who later became his rival. Bundorio attempted to increase his speed by inventing a device called the Boonboom Controller but was unable to properly utilize it leading him to dispose it. An anonymous fan gifted Bundorio a modification part that made Bundorio become fast enough to beat Byun Diesel in a race albeit this also resulted in him crashing in the circuit. unbeknownst to him, the modification part Bundorio used was an illegal upgrade which was the cause for his license to be revoked, wanting to not have his teammates and ByunDi suffer, Bundorio wished for this incident to be kept a secret. Having lost his BBG license and his faith in everything, he was later approached by Waruido Spindo who punished the person who supposedly sent him his illegal upgrade and offered him an opportunity as a mechanic for the recently-formed Hashiriyan. The two maintained a close relationship, with Bundorio working behind the scenes under Spindo?s direct order. However, Bundorio later found out that his accident was caused by Spindo himself. Furthermore, his creations, such as the Kurumaju System are ultimately used to gather Gyahsoline for the Hashiriyan's nefarious purposes. This revelation broke Bundorio's trust in Spindo and made him cooperate with the Galactic Police to catch Waruido and imprison him on a Prison Asteroid. This event angered Spindo, as he ultimately put Bundorio on the Hashiriyan's Hit List. Spindo then ordered one of his captains to kill Bundorio albeit this assassination attempt ultimately failed, leaving Bundorio to drift across the universe before crash landing on Earth, sustaining injuries. After being saved by Taiya by chance, he was brought to Taiya's secret base garage at his home where he would treat his injuries. He and Taiya bonded over their passion for cars and Bundorio began living inside his secret base garage at his home, living life in a humanoid/human-sized form with the aid of a special sun-visor he made himself. He and Taiya developed the Boonboomgers' equipment and also helps out the team remotely from the hidden base. Bundorio has genius mechanical skills and maintains everything related to the Boonboomgers. He is also good at housework and often makes curry for everyone. He transforms into Boonboomger Robo and can combine with other BoonBoom Cars to change forms. Byun Diesel: Nicknamed ByunDi, a former member of Bundorio?s racing team, he currently serves as partner to Sakito. He's also a skilled racer. While he tends to scold Sakito for his love of chaos, the two of them share a deep bond due to their travels all over the universe. As a Giant Mecha, he becomes the Byunbyun Mach formula racecar, which can transform into the Byunbyun Mach Robo. Shirabe Saibu: The team?s liaison with the ISA. She was once a special investigator of the International Space Agency, though in the months that followed the final battle against Waruido Spindo, she became director of the entire organization, replacing Eiichiro Tokoyari. Shirabe Saibu is an authoritative, strait-laced investigator. She enjoys Bundorio Bunderas's special curry rice and is extremely pleased whenever someone addresses her as "Onee-san". A gag in the show is that she doesn?t let anyone see her smile, often recomposing herself to her serious and stoic demeanor, sometimes clearing her throat and misdirecting whoever saw it then resuming her happy moment away from those who saw her. Another gag with her is that she often daydreams about romantic scenarios between her and Bundorio, whom she refers as ?Bun-sama?. Nicola Keydoor: Princess of the planet Trickle, which was taken over by the Hashiriyan, she travelled to Earth to escape being used as leverage by the Catching Captain Demon Thunder. Once there, she was encouraged by the Boonboomgers to take her own wheel and make her own decisions, which inspired her to fight back against the Hashiriyan invasion of Trickle. Afterwards, she helps the Boonboomgers by informing them of a crystal that can help revive Bundorio revive from death. Due to her nature as a princess, Nicola starts out as an introverted girl who can't make decisions for herself, finding herself lost after planet Trickle was conquered. However, with the help of Mira, Nicola learns to take her wheel and she decides to retake her planet from the Hashiriyans. Gerojim: A shapeshifting Bugnarak Kaijim possessing mayfly BNA, who serves as Jeramie?s aide-de-camp. Geroujim is a patient Kaijim seemingly having stood still while invisible for an unknown period of time. His disguises and how he acts in them range from being accurate as with Prime Minister Kamejim, Sebastian and even Jeramie to very inaccurate as seen with his disguises as Yamma Gast and Shiokara. He's also meek and soft-hearted as he tries to please Deathnarak VIII and later his new beneficiary, Jeramie. In time of crisis, Geroujim can be strong-willed as he succeeded in reprimanding Jeramie about the duty as a King. Akka: One of the three Magi of N?Kosopa. Kofuki: A researcher formerly in Rcules? service. After being press-ganged into service to unlock the secrets of the Founder?s Crown and Caucasuskabuto Castle, he was left for dead in a secret part of the castle, until he was found by the Ohsama Sentai as they were trying to activate King Caucasuskabuto. Raid Team Three Seaters: A group of low-ranked site supervisors of the Universal Running Group Hashiriyan Decotrade: The driver of the Three Seaters. Before joining the Hashiriyan, Decotrade owned a Custom vehicle (dubbed as a Big Rig), but it was apparently destroyed or towed by Wreckers. Later, he met Yarucar who was sulking in an alleyway and Itasha arrived shortly after. The three had nothing to lose so Decotrade offered to form a group with Itasha and Yarucar which both agreed with as a way to find a reason to keep moving on and they eagerly made an oath to aim for the top. Decotrade, alongside Itasha and YaiYai Yarucar first met Mad Rex when they were being attacked by 3 other alien thugs on another planet and when they failed to fight back Itasha and Yarucar were ready to give up and die but Decotrade was the only one willing to keep fighting and called out the two stating that they haven't lost yet because they were still alive. However, before he could fight, MadRex appeared and rescued them from the thugs taking them all out. After he introduced himself he stated that he liked Decotrade's fiery spirit and thus, recruited him, Itasha and Yarucar to become the Hashiryian's Three Seaters. Decotrade exudes a rebellious, punky, vain and fiery attitude, he possesses a larger-than-life persona. He often takes on the assertive role within the Three Seaters, leading conversations and rallying support for their plans and seems to act as the leader of the Three Seaters when there is no captain present. He is not one to give up and will fight to the end, he usually runs off when the Boonboomgers appear but fights them when he has too. Decotrade has great pride and enthusiasm in being a Hashiriyan since he revels in chaos and enjoys the thrill of his teams' villainous antics which shows he is fiery and ruthless as he enjoys the fear and terror they spread in order to spread and create Gyahsoline from the screams of others and is definitely a punk most of the time since he's often the loudest, intimidating and most aggressive out of his team. Out of all the Three Seaters, Decotrade is the most focused on gathering Gyahsoline for their boss and pleasing their superior MadRex and rising up within the Hashiriyan ranks, making him the most mature member of the Three Seaters, but he still has moments where he can be just lazy or incompetent as Itasha and Yarucar. He's also quite vain as he apparently wants to be the 'handsome' one in the Hashiriyans. Like Itasha, he can be gullible as he fell for Disrace's lie about the Boonboomgers killing MadRex a second time in order to tempt them into getting revenge against the Boonboomgers since they were unaware of the fact that Disrace is the reason MadRex was killed for good. Despite his rebellious and tough exterior, he has a deep loyalty to his friends, Itasha and Yarucar and although he occasionally bickers and argues with them, he is protective of their well-being which shows that Decotrade has a compassionate side and he was even willing to take extra shots when Sakito fired his weapon at them. He has an undying loyalty to MadRex and feels indebted to the captain for saving his, Itasha and Yarucar's lives, despite his harsh treatment for persuading him, Itasha and Yarucar to do better. Itasha: A former pickpocket who uses her Hashiriyan Key to turn objects that cannot race into Kurumaju (Misery Demon Beasts). Before joining the Hashiriyan, Itasha was the fastest pickpocket. She had a fortune (possibly made with her pick pocketing skills) but it was all apparently stolen from her. It is heavily implied that Itasha spent some years doing hard labor, struggling with many jobs and often felt alone as nobody would ever care to notice her or check in on her. She only found comfort by talking to the kittens on her shoulders as imaginary friends to combat her loneliness. Itasha is sneaky, energetic, quick and determined. She is shown to be very persistent too as when she has her eyes set on something she will get it but she is not much of a fighter and usually flees at the sight of the Boonboomgers but will fight them when she has too. Itasha is fascinated with Earth's forms of wealth and fortune and has a proud reputation of being the universe's fastest pickpocket. Itasha takes a lot of pride and ruthlessness in her job creating Kurumaju to make humans scream in order to create Gyahsoline and seems to be very skilled with tech as she is capable of creating/summoning Nejiretta from screws. She can be hotheaded since she gets angry when challenged. She revels in the chaos and terror the Three Seaters create and enjoys creating Gyahsoline to please her superiors as she shows great enthusiasm, excitement and eagerness during their missions. There are times where she will berate Decotrade and Yarucar for their antics even though she isn't any better due to being incompetent herself. When she fights she'll sometimes shout or hiss 'meow' at her opponents and can be pretty formidable. Unfortunately, both she and Decotrade are gullible as they fell for the lies from Disrace, regarding MadRex's death. She apparently has a sweet tooth. Itasha is not without a good side, she cares deeply for both Decotrade and Yarucar as her best friends and is protective of them both and is often seen holding Yarucar in her arms, consoles him when he's upset and even hugs him hinting that she has an affectionate side and shows great care for Decotrade as well, especially if he's attacked. Itasha even has an undying loyalty to MadRex and is willing to go to great lengths to protect him alongside the other Sanseaters, even if it meant their lives. It is implied that she may have a crush on her boss, Waruido Spindo as she said she was 'moved' seeing him and fainted (alongside Decotrade and Yarucar). Although Itasha is also shown to be moved greatly after Taiya gave her a story book as Christmas gift, to the point of her resenting Gomi Bako Grumer for scrapping the book and helping the Boonboomgers destroy it. Yaiyai Yarucar: One of hundreds of Yarucars created by Spindo to collect Gyahsoline for his own purposes, Yaiyai Yarucar left the planet of his birth at a young age to try and make a name for himself, only to lose the crest the rest of his species has, and his memories, after crashing into a meteorite. However, he was very well known about within the community of his homeworld as a prodigy. He also retains his pre-programmed reaction to released Gyahsoline, that compels him to devour and transport it across the Highway Dimension. By expelling the Gyahsoline he absorbs, he can enlarge the Kurumaju it was created from, which is later modified into a Highway Beam that instantly releases his load. Normally, Yarucar is mischievous and energetic, he enjoys causing chaos and destruction when speeding and racing. Since he is the youngest and smallest member of the Hashiriyans, he almost never fights the Boonboomgers and he can usually be seen being held by Decotrade or Itasha. Yarucar is always ecstatic and ready for a little chaos when it comes to collecting Gyahsoline and is eager to make the Earth Hashiriyan territory. He shows many childlike traits (even being treated like a child by his team) since he likes to play games but doesn't seem to be above cheating to win. Yarucar likes to act and talk like a hoodlum, he is very wild and is always in the mood to cause some trouble as well as being very snarky and sometimes rude to his captains, namely Cannonborg and Disrace since he isn't afraid to throw insults or say something that could get him and his friends in trouble which often leads to Decotrade and Itasha covering his mouth to avoid getting them into any issues. Yarucar has a fondness for Dinosaurs and was very fond of the Kaseki Grumer but this unfortunately showed his bratty and selfish side as he was furious and enraged when it became friends with Jyo, Yarucar was even willing to fight him to get his dinosaur back and when it got destroyed, he was left in tears. Yarucar shows some hints to being fame hungry, after arriving on Earth, he was desperate to make the headlines on the news or appear on TV and when the Three Seaters managed to announce the Hashiriyan invasion on live TV, he rushed to the cameramen simply to brag about how the Hashiriyans will conquer the Earth. He's also quite modest and blushed when Weiwei Yarucar called him a prodigy. Unlike Decotrade and Itasha, he is not gullible. Yarucar loves Decotrade and Itasha as they were the first ones to take him in ever since he lost his memory and is deeply loyal to them, to the point that he gave up chances offered to him to become an elite so that he could stay with the two. When Cannonborg tried forcing Yarucar to enlarge Decotrade and Itasha, Yarucar furiously refused and enlarged Cannonborg instead, unwilling to sacrifice them even if it was to aid the Hashiriyans. Yarucar is intensely loyal to MadRex, despite being squeezed by him twice for his Ghassolin, and he is willing to risk his life for MadRex. Initially in the series, when exposed to Gyahsoline from defeated Kurumaju, Yarucar's normally blue eyes turn red, his speech turns cruder, and eats the accumulated Gyahsoline, growing in size before rampaging all over the Highway Dimension. After a point, the Boonboomgers would end him knocking him off course, allowing him to reform and enlarge the Kurumaju, and afterwards he has no memory of his rampages and returns to his normal size. Cannonborg later gave him modifications that allows control over his Gassholin-induced form, letting him choose targets, though his eyes still changed, showing he still wasn't in full control. It is later revealed he, alongside his entire species, was responding to pre-programmed orders by the Hashiriyan consigliere, Grantu Risk under the orders of Waruido Spindo. What did I think of Boonboomger? I thought it was actually pretty good. The action was incredible, the characters were memorable and I felt its finale was everything I wanted King-Ohger to do with its endgame. Heck, I started work on my own Power Rangers adaptation before the show was even over. That?s how much I love Boonboomger. As for the credits of this film, our writer is anime veteran Atsuhiro Tomioka, our producer is relative newcomer Takehiro Okawa and our writer is Sentai mainstay Hiroyuki Kato (whose fictional counterpart murdered a load of Pinks because they were Kamen Rider fans), so with all of that said, on to what will probably be the penultimate review in this series. We open with the Boonboomgers travelling down the Highway Dimension. Sure enough, they soon arrive at the Planet Trickle (mentioned several times in the series, but not seen until now) Inside, they?re greeted by are greeted by their old friend Nicola, now Queen of the planet. (Did her parents die during the invasion or the take back? Did they abdicate? It?ll probably never be revealed) She turns out to have called them to the planet from their run in the Big Bang Grand Prix to bear witness to the Union between Trickle and another planet, as a thanks for helping motivate her to liberate Trickle from the Hashiriyan. Jou then notices a fancy sword, and has to be restrained from touching it. Nicola explains that the sword is the Ohgercaliber ZERO, sent over from the other planet making the alliance, Chikyu. A name which confuses Mira (to remind you, Chikyu is Japanese for ?Earth?, as in the planet) As Genba explains that it must be an astounding coincidence (spoilers for King-Ohger, it?s not), we cut to the titles, after which Mira and Jou invite Nicola to come and watch them race in the BBG, a dream Ishiro proceeds to crush to a fine powder. The conversation gets derailed as a hand reaches out from a portal to grab Nicola?s pendant (featured prominently in her previous appearances, without its importance getting much explanation, until now). The Boonboomgers locate a Kurumaju signal outside the palace, where 5e MysteriousProtector hand reveals its full body (voiced by Sentai regular Tetsu Inada, having the time of his life to the point I?ll be quoting a few of his lines rather than summarising them. You have been warned) The Boonboomgers corner him and toss away their racing uniforms for their normal clothes, as Nicola finally gives a name for her pendant. Nicola: None but one born royal can touch it. ?: Fool! I?m already touching it. He then proceeds to rub it into his armpits, before proceeding to introduce himself. Manhole Grumer: Our boss was destroyed just as our plan was succeeding! I fell into deep, dark despair! But I woke up and embraced a new grand plan! As Bundorio emphatically identifies his group as the Boonboomgers who took down the Hashiriyan, Manhole Grumer summons and army of Neziretta to destroy them. The Boonboomgers then proceed with their transformation. All: Boonboom Change! As the Boonboomgers begin their fight with the Neziretta, a mysterious presence breaks into the palace and assaults the guards, heading for the Ohgercaliber ZERO. And partway through the fight, the Boonboomgers stop to see God Caucasuskabuto flying through the air. And who should be onboard, but the Ohsama Sentai (don?t they have foreign diplomats on Chikyu?)? who are inexplicably already transformed (how did they know they?d need to do that?) Gira is quick to leap into the fray, saving Mira and Jou. He then gets stopped in his murder spree by the need to comment on the Boonboomgers? helmets. As the fight rages on, Yanma calls upon his new lackeys? the Three Seaters. But the happy reunion for the Boonboomgers gets cut short by an unhappy reunion for the Ohsama Sentai, as Manhole Grumer?s brutish ally is revealed. As Jeramie wonders what Minongan is doing here, he holds up his prize. Manhole Grumer then explains Minongan?s deal to the Boonboomgers, and explaining that he got him out of his icy prison (in which he was sealed in episode 45 of King-Ohger) by? unfreezing him (which somehow never occurred to Dagded, a supposedly omnipotent god-like being). And they?re working together to rebuild the Hashiriyan. As the Boonboomgers try to figure out what the Three Sacred Regalia are, the Ohsama Sentai charge in to attack? doing it slowly enough that Manhole Grumer?s can plus his Ignition Key into the sword. This turns the Ohgercaliber ZERO into a new Kurumaju (repainted from Sword Grumer from episodes 16 and 18 of Boonboomger), who states the first part of his name thanks to the magic of stock audio clips. After he knocks the Ohsama Sentai back, Itasha tries to sue for copyright infringement. Nicola tries asking Minongan what the bad guys? goals are. While Minongan is stupid enough to almost answer, unfortunately, Manhole Grumer is. He proceeds to throw one of his manholes, creating a portal into which Taiya, Gira and Yarucar get sucked. Their business on Trickle concluded, the three villains decide to go after the third Sacred Regalia, which Minongan mentions is on Chikyu? which just confuses the others. Manhole Grumer then opens another hole, into which they step. Bundorio stops it from closing so that the others can give chase. While Rita advises caution, everyone else decides to leap in headfirst, with Mira making an argument that convinces Hymeno. After everyone else has gone through, Bundorio urges Nicola to make contact with Taiya, before leaping through the portal himself. Speaking of Taiya, he and Gira wake up on the other side of the portal in a cave, where they formally introduce themselves. As they wonder where they?ve ended up, Yarucar comes running, pursued by angry natives. Fortunately, said natives are Sanagim, making Gira realise that they?re on Chikyu (his one, not the one we?re from), specifically in Bugnarak. As Gerojim appears to lead them back to Shugoddam, the three villains arrive on Earth to find the final Regalia, only to fall foul of Sakito and ByunDi (still on the planet as of Boonboomger?s finale). He then transforms to fight them off. Sakito: ByunByun Change! But before a fight can begin, Ishiro, Yanma and Decotrade appear, knocking him down. The bad guys take advantage of this to escape, and then Yanma and Sakito get into a pissing Contestir because they?ve never heard of the other. Meanwhile, Jou, Genba, Kaguragi and Jeramie end up in the town the Boonboomgers reside in, where Jou gets greeted by a stalls lady (played by Keiko Hashimoto, best known for suit acting Tentolina from B-Robo Kabutack, Kamen Rider Femme and DekaYellow). He then gets greeted by the two recurring bodybuilders (I know one of them was in Ultraman Blazar, but I?ve forgotten his name and that of the character he played, I only know him either as ?Billy? or ?GrandComplete?s Hasbando?) Also greeting him as a baker played by Shogo Teramoto (Kaguragi?s stunt double, letting you all see the massive size difference between the two) and Officer Keisuke Asada, the cop who?s been recurring since Donbrothers and recognises Jeramie from his time stationed as a Shugoddam guard. As Jou introduces the Ohsama Sentai members as kings from another planet, Genba gets called by Ishiro?s whose group has returned to the Boonboomgers? garage. Also receiving the message are a group made up of the characters played by women (or to put it another way, and the rest). Genba and Jeramie then tell the other that as long as their respective red is with the other, there shouldn?t be a problem. Back with team women at a theme park, Mira realises something. A warning that falls flat, since the theme park is in the middle of a cosplay event. Even Itasha?s got into it. And a reluctant Mira receives no help from Bundorio, who is instead showing Rita his oshi (introduced in episode 7 of Boonboomger). To the surprise of no-one familiar with them, Rita is hooked instantly. Meanwhile, Hymeno offers her version of advice. We then get a montage of Mira trying on different costumes, which Itasha likes, but Hymeno hates. Then Mira dresses as a Princess, and Hymeno is like Edward Nygma?s carnival machine after he chooses ?Question Mark Man? as a possible alias. The girls then proceed to have fun on the teacups - Bundorio is too big (Isn?t there a potential end of the world thing going right now? Do they have time for this?) Elsewhere, the bad guys are scanning for the final Regalia. Manhole Grumer: Sensei, how?s it going? Is the third Regalia here? Minongan: Mirror? gone. Manhole Grumer: Gone! Manhole Grumer: But it should be buried here on Earth. Minongan then uses his time powers to ascertain from traces of the Star Soul Mirror?s essence what happened to it. As Jou gets overwhelmed with gifts from the entire town, Genba and Jeramie simultaneously figure out the importance of the Three Sacred Regalia. Back at the garage, Yanma asks his new flunky about his past with the Boonboomgers, Decotrade tries to exaggerate his relationship with the Boonboomgers. Yanma explains that he found the Three Seaters in N?Kosopa one day, where they asked for help in establishing their Three Seater Empire. Ishiro then makes clear what he wants. The first step of which is getting in contact with an old ally. With her help, they can procure the satellite connections needed to build a planetary phone, which Yanma provides a power source for, in the form of God Tonbo?s soul (so for those of you wondering how they can transform in this film without lugging the Shugods everywhere? that?s how). Back with the boys, Jou is just about done with the citizenry. Sakito and ByunDi then call everyone with what they?ve learned about the Three Sacred Regalia from their contacts in the Fixer industry. And when all three are bought together, something will indeed happen. Namely? For some elaboration? Everyone quickly realises that Dagded?s piece must be beneath the Earth. And then, having built the main body with Ishiro?s BoonBoom Changer and Yanma?s God Tombo Soul, Ishiro realises that Decotrade has been holding the final piece they need this whole time. Ishiro: What if I used Hashiriyan technology? Meanwhile, Minongan?s time sense tell him what happened to the Star Soul Mirror? it?s the magic disco ball (as I?ve always called it, everyone else called it ?the Matrix of Leadership?) Taiya picked up from Bundorio?s crash (as seen in episode 46) Over on Chikyu, Gerojim and Gira have led Taiya and Yarucar to Shugoddam. His role in the plot served (I?m guessing they only put him in here to see if Seki?s voice would crack this time), Gerojim vanishes (And I realise they literally never explained anything about him in the show) Taiya and Yarucar are impressed by what they see. Gira explains it?s a result of working hard over the years to attain world piece, with the Ohgercaliber ZERO being the embodiment of that peace (despite having spent 2000 years being used by a lineage of tyrants serving space Cthulhu. But sure, it embodies peace). This leads Taiya into some of Boonboomger?s social commentary (for instance, their main villain?s plan wasn?t to upend Earth?s governments, but keep them in power and actively make them worse) Taiya: My Earth is far from the peace you have. The wars between countries are endless. The gap between the rich and the poor keeps widening. We?re quite immature compared to your world. Gira then admits that he has no idea if the peace will actually last, or if he can keep it. Duga then appears to lead the two to where Kofuki and Akka are collaborating on their own sub space communicator. And Yarucar is excited to watch this turn into a potential bloodbath. But Gira is able to get them back on track with some encouraging words. Back with the female cast members, Rita and Hymeno have abandoned having fun now they know Dagded?s involved in things, much to the dismay of Mira and the bemusement of the other two. Bundorio then gets sucked into one of Manhole Grumer?s holes. (Not that kind) Mira tries to save him, only to trip over the princess dress. She decides to swap back to her regular clothes (Don?t ask how she was wearing them underneath her sleeveless dress), but then OCZ Grumer appears to help the villains retreat after Manhole Grumer drops the bombshell that Bundorio is the third Regalia. Mira passes this news onto Ishiro and Shirabe, the latter of whom faints dead away at learning ?Bun-sama? is in trouble. Ishiro then establishes contact with Chikyu, getting through to Taiya. After catching him up on the situation, we cut to the bad guys finalising things. Manhole Grumer then explains his earlier comment. Manhole Grumer: When you crashed on Earth, Bun Red picked up the Star Soul Mirror along with your and he foolishly used it to revive you. The worst possible use! Fortunately, the energy release gives Shirabe a lock on the villains? location. Taiya tries to have Yarucar return them to Earth with his Highway Beam (installed in episode 17)? only for it to fail. After learning what Gyahsoline is (basically, an energy sourced derived from human screams), he hits upon an idea. The idea? Do his Evil King act to a crowd and have Yarucar absorbed their play-acted screams. Amazingly, it works. Yarucar then opens a Highway Dimension to Earth and enlarges Taiya?s model BoonBoom Super Car into a full sized (and fully functioning, somehow) version. Taiya brings Gira with him so he can be delivered to the Ohsama Sentai, with the pair driving off through the portal. Back on Earth, energy from the Three Sacred Regalia meets the Dagded fragment, bringing it back to life. Backwash from this also drives Bundorio berserk, indicated by his red eyes and constant snarling. (Prepare for actor jokes in a few paragraphs) Then the Boonboomgers and Ohsama Sentai appear to stop the plan, with Yanma emphatically stating ?There?s no way in Hell I?m dealing with another Dagded?. Itasha then attempts to stop the ritual by stealing the Gem of Genesis, but it?s useless at this point. And since Dagded?s making his way to the surface, all the bad guys have to do now is get rid of the riffraff. So Manhole Grumer summons more Neziretta to battle the Rangers. Yanma: Let?s go, Raccoon Brains. At Manhole Grumer?s command, Yami Bundorio breaks free of his chains to begin beating up his teammates and their allies. The combined power of three opponents knocks everyone out of their suits. Genba and ByunDi then ascertain that Bundorio has been driven mad by Dagded?s energies. But before they can be killed by an army of Neziretta, Taiya and Gira appear to wipe them all out. And Yarucar reunites with his fellow Three Seaters. And with the threat of the Neziretta dealt with, Taiya restores Yami Bundorio to normal by punching him in the face. ByunDi and Genba then provide a more belevolent taste of his own medicine by feeding Bundorio his own BoonBoom Curry. Minongan then hurries the emotional scene along to rush to the climax. And thus, everyone begins to transform. Boonboomgers: BoonBoom Change! Sakito: ByunByun Change! Ohsama Sentai: Ohgai Busou! Taiya: Bun Red! Ishiro: Bun Blue! Mira: Bun Pink! Jou: Bun Black! Genba: Bun Orange! Sakito: Bun Violet! Bundorio: Bundorio Bunderas! ByunDi: Byun Diesel! Taiya: Feeling BoonBoom. Bun Spin! Bakugan Sentai? All: Gira: The Evil King, Gira Husty! (Kuwagata-Ohger!) Yanma: The Intelligent King, Yanma Gast! (Tombo-Ohger!) Hymeno: The Dazzling Queen, Hymeno Ran! (Kamakiri-Ohger!) Rita: The Steadfast Ruler, Rita Kaniska! (Papillon-Ohger!) Kaguragi: The Abundant Lord, Kaguragi Dybowski (Hachi-Ohger!) Jeramie: The Rift King, Jeramie Brasieri (Spider Kumonos!) Gira: We are the Ohsama Sentai! All: Cue the pose. Noting that they just need to kill the heroes before Dagded comes to the surface, Manhole Grumer leads his side into battle, wih Minongan using his time powers to revive Jigokujim (from episode 5 of King-Ohger) and KinBaejim (from episode 34) to fight with them. The fight begins with Taiya, Gira and Bundorio Foghting OCZ Grumer. From the sidelines, the Three Seaters cheer them on, which inspires Taiya to go all out. As Hymeno and Mira take down Jigokujim, while the Blues, Jeramie and Genba send KinBaejim back to the grave, Jou and Sakito help Kaguragi and Rita do what they should?ve done last time and vanquish Minongan for good. Minongan: Dagded-sama? is coming! Back with the Reds, OCZ Grumer finally gets a line of dialogue that isn?t taken from his DX toy counterpart. It comes from the Memorial toy (and is actually voiced by the King-Ohger toy voice). As he begins laughing evilly, Gira gets pissed off at the monster using his brother?s catchphrase enough to become King Kuwagata-Ohger. Gira: Shisho Korai! Wih a series of combo attacks, Taiya and Gira destroy OCZ Grumer, reverting him to the Ohgercaliber ZERO (at this point, I?d just throw that thing in a volcano. It?s more trouble than it?s worth). The death of his fellow Kurumaju drives Manhole Grumer to step in and attack the pair himself. But the attack is rendered worthless, as the others arrive to help overpower the flying manhole covers. The two Sentai combine their finishers to defeat Manhole Grumer? But he gets back up, unharmed barely a second later. And then the Dagded fragment emerges from the ground. If you were expecting Dagded to possess Manhole Grumer for the Megazord battle like in Go-Onger vs Gekiranger, then think again. Manhole Grumer absorbs Dagded for the Megazord battle, growing giant and transforming into a new form. He then begins unleashing gravity waves that begin to tear apart the Galaxy. As everyone barely holds on, Gira rouses them to action. And so, the Boonboomgers summon their BoonBoom Cars, with the Ohsama Sentai tagging along with their match by colour (Hymeno goes with Mira, while Rita travels with Genba), with Bundorio combining with Boonboom Classic and BoonBoom Racing into Boonboomger Robo Knight. Sakito, with Jeramie as his passenger, transforms ByunDi into ByunByun Mach Robo and combines with Boonboom Wagon and Boonboom PatCar 2. But unfortunately, both are far too small to fight against Black Hole Grumer, who uses his gravity screw powers to buffet them. Gira, remembering how they defeated the similarly huge Dagded, hits on a solution. No, he doesn?t summon King-Ohger across the vastness of space. Instead, he and the others infuse the powers of their Shugod Souls into Taiya?s BoonBoom Changer, transforming it into the King BoonBoom Changer. Taiya then goes through the usual rigamarole, but for the two giants. Bundorio gets his head and sword changed into those of King-Ohger?s (you can kind of do this with the toys, but good luck). While Rev gets the arms of Legend/Extreme/Go King-Ohger (you can?t do this with the toys, due to both using different joints) The added energy causes them to grow to match Black Hole Grumer in size. Black Hole Grumer is unimpressed, but the theme song kicks in to signify things are turning around. Don?t stop BoonBoom, Don?t stop the BoonBoom. Don?t stop BoonBoom, don?t stop the BoonBoom. Don?t stop the BoonBoom, don?t stop the BoonBoom. Don?t stop BoonBoom. The surge of each revolution is a dash through an era No matter how many times you roll it, it?s the kart beat of the engine. (Boom Boom) Now speed it up (Boom Boom) Not enough! Is that all you got? (Boom Boom) Even if you overheat, just keep on hitting that accelerator! Heat up, go absolutely full throttle! Use that force to knock them down! Hear that heart beat, beat, beat, beat, beat, beat! Don?t stop ready? Alright! Explosively surge up! Hands up! Hands up! It may not be perfect, But race all around the world! (Don?t stop BoonBoom, don?t stop the BoonBoom. Don?t stop BoonBoom) It?s pretty good! (Don?t stop BoonBoom, don?t stop the BoonBoom. Don?t stop BoonBoom) Race around! With both robots now getting hits in, Taiya and Gira swap their arc words. Pressing the King BoonBoom Changer three times, allows both Bundorio and ByunDi to perform the Saikou Super Sentai Giri. As this hits Black Hole Grumer with enough force to send him into the air, Bundorio says one final thing to him. Manhole Cover Grumer: I?m a black hole! You damn ants! And then he explodes, taking Dagded?s fragment with him. But before they strike a victory pose, ByunDi has one question. We then cut back to some time later, back on planet Trickle. Gira and Nicola cement the alliance between their two worlds (let?s hope it doesn?t require an arranged marriage, because I don?t ship it. Not when Taiya and Mira are right there for both of them). As Taiya thanks Nicola for inviting them and vows to try and achieve what Gira managed with his Chikyu, Bundorio appears to make the Evil King try his curry. As Gira declares he likes it, Bundorio leads everyone in a dance party ending to his character song/Boonboomger?s ED, ending the story. I always manage to pull through when it counts! Trust me ~ I?m obstinate and I never get discouraged! I go where I?m not wanted! (Hey hey hey) I can?t read the atmosphere and I don?t want to Because air is just for tires Let?s see how big we can inflate the future! Everyone?s different and everyone?s good Be proud with me about that! I?ve got a full tank of enthusiasm ready! If your engine stalls, just walk! It?s okay to be a piece of junk! (Junk junk) Race down the broken down road (Junk junk) I?m happy just spinning my wheels It?s cool, it?s cool, it?s cool, it?s cool, it?s awesome! (Yes yes) A piece of junk is here! (Junk junk) Time to go down the broken-down road (Junk junk) Someday you?ll be a champion You and you and you go ahead and laugh Lend me a hand and let?s do this together Boom boom Final thoughts: Aside from OCZ Grumer and Yami Bundorio not being as prominent as I thought they?d be, this was actually pretty good. The characters bounced off each other nicely and the impetus for the plot was simple and effective. And I won?t say no to the return of exclusive mecha formations in exchange for the kitbashed new forms. Overall, I?d recommend this one. |
