So.. I've been thinking about how Toei gonna do the switch between Maya Imamori and Kohaku Shida as GozyuUnicorn and I think I've found a way: In ep. 20, Oto don't recognise Sumino, and that's because Sumino dosen't looks like herself... Just like Kinjiro Takehara wishes to be young and got it (switching from old actor Masaki Kobayashi to young actor Jin Matsumoto), Maya Imamori is actually Kohaku Shida in disguise, so she'll be able to catch Rei Gushima that kidnapped Oto, without him recognise her as well. So now that Oto is free, Sumino can reveal her true self to everyone.

I'm not sure about the "it was all a disguise" part personally, but I'm open with the idea of the writers explaining and justifying her looking different. Den-O did this sorta with the Hana/Kohana switcheroo where they explained it was because of a change within the world of the narrative.

Honestly, I'll accept pretty much any explanation, no matter how dumb, over no explanation at all. The disguise idea could work, they'd probably just have to reshoot the flashback 8 years ago from Oto's perspective.

I guess we'll have to wait till episode 40, but I have this feeling for now that they'll just take a page from Ultraman Taiga's playbook and just go with it, as if it was Kohaku Shida all along.

the show producer comment says they will borrow this design for the show, so maybe this will be super sentai's kamen rider shinobi/quiz/kikai/ginga?
If they do, it would be funny if they somehow have masato wada aka akiba red and risa yoshiki aka rika sakurada as cameos at least (fun fact, they're a married couple in real life) or jun shison and somehow intertwine it with the theme of imagination or delusions.
But back to origa red, i love the puns (kami sword and original sentai ftw, with original likely a portmanteau of origami and original ) and the paper crane motif it has going.
