A better episode than the first, but also a messier one.

I'll start with Setsuna. I like this guy and I can see how Reiji is a good influence on him, encouraging him to be his own kind of Gavan rather than whatever Gavan he thinks the universe needs him to be. Setsuna has a weak grasp on understanding emotions, so he's naturally a great device to deliver all that blunt thematic talk without sounded forced, as it's the only way he knows how to express it. Which lets Reiji be more action-focused and have more interesting lines that show his subtle inner anger instead of telling you about it. No sign of Setsuna's main comrade, Amou Rui, so maybe she'll show up during Reiji's next excursion in this universe.

The Makuu Space stuff seems poorly thought out though. Like, the Agi narration says that humans die as soon as they enter, but we immediately see that the crime boss guy had no problem with that. Maybe there's a reason for that, but if there is, then I think the narration shouldn't have contradicted what was shown. Evil is supposed to be 3x stronger in Makuu Space, but Gavan Bushido shows no sign of struggle and continues to fight as stylishly as he did before. It would make sense if this Makuu Space functioned differently from the one in OG Gavan's universe, but uh, this is a multiverse story!

Also, the scene with the criminal brother in the squad car could've been cut. That guy acts like the most generic whiny self-righteous terrorist screaming at the cops for doing their job and he doesn't even learn anything by the end, so why is the show making us watch him?

Kabutack had a dance sequence way before Sentai made it a regular thing. And no, the entire point of RED is to make bigger profits than Sentai, which involves changing stuff that doesn't work and keeping stuff that does.

Like how Love Bomber was the strongest finisher for Ghost Mugen Damashii. Certainly, love is an intense emotion that can drive people to the extremes of good and evil.
