Does anyone have any idea where the term "Driver" comes from? Most Kamen Rider transformation items these days have Driver in the name but I don't think I've ever heard anyone question what it means exactly.

From what I know, the term was first used in Faiz, to describe the belt, which works pretty much exactly how Sunred describes it - an interface between the Faiz Phone and the suit. Decade re-used the term for the DecaDriver (and then the DiendDriver too), but that could either be from the same route, or as a call back to Faiz. Double used it, almost certainly out of tradition at this point, and its been the same ever since, with only a few exceptions (the Megauloader is the only one that springs to mind right now)

When they started using it since Faiz I didnt really think much of it but with this definition I think it does justify the usage of the word somewhat since the belts can be considered a computer/control unit and the collectibles the peripherals in a sense. Whether that was the intention we will never know but I like to think it does factor in be it intentional or unintentional.
