It seems to be one of the few expressions/onomatopoeias used for cars. Definitely not the only one, and also used for situations like swinging a bat. Though I haven't found an example of ブンブン used for explosions yet, perhaps I haven't searched hard enough so I won't rule it out just yet.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing the good old Gorenger palette but if they have anything new to offer I'm fine with that. The Zyuohger palette would be nice to see again too.

Think more like from Go-Onger's opening, which iirc has a part that goes 'boom boom bam bam' when it loops back to the chorus

Everything that I've read says ブンブン is an onomatopoeia for...

① The sound of insects' wings flapping.
② The sound of the wind blowing when an object is swung vigorously.

So it's more like "buzz" or "whoosh" than "vroom."

TBH, considering the show's mechs are (supposedly) built around a car crash gimmick, I'm less inclined to think "Boon Boom" is a direct Japanese onomatopoeia, and more inclined to think it's meant to evoke "Boom," the way it's used in English as a sound of explosions or crashes.
