The ending to mass effect 3 was meant to be built to over the three games but winds up being a pick between three choices which can be chosen despite eveything done throughout the game taking nothing into account before hand.
It relies too much on deus ex machinas to get to this point,it creates a huge number of plot holes, this ending could be avoided had the writers remember details from the first game, the main villains plot is frigging off the wall dumb and could be easily stop by them, a lot of the main characters don't get closure, the dlc to fix the ending was a patchwork job at best. I think I rambled on enough but those are the problems with Mass effects 3 ending from what I remember.

Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen Gaim: I hate that Kouta kills Kaito that basically says that Kouta submitted to Kaito's way of thinking that Power triumphs over all rather than believe that his friends give him power. He killed one of his friends, he didn't find a way to convince him out of it or save him. He let the true villain live without attacking him at all; Sagara, who went off to cause another survival of the fittest test elsewhere to so there is a bunch of people who died that Kouta could have saved. Kouta was one of my favorite characters and the end just ruined his character and hell I'm selling my figuart of him because I don't want anything to do with him because of the ending. It destroyed most of the series for me. Also seeing Micchy be a hero at the end just showed that all the betrayal and crap was stupid to have Micchy go that route he was better off being the hero and had no reason for the sudden super jackass Kiriya/Hojo/Kusaka turn. Yeah honestly I think Gaim has the worst ending. I enjoyed Faiz's ending and thought Blade had one of the best endings of all. So in correlation to Mass Effect 3's ending being so bad and all my problems with Gaim's ending I can definitely see the parallels between them. With both of them severely hurting the series. The sad part is I love everything about every Kamen Rider series I've seen so far. So it kind of hurts that I have strong negative feelings about a part of it. I am hoping the Drive/Gaim Movie and the Gaim Gaidens help fix my problems with it though. Because some of my favorite Riders come from the series. I really never saw Sagara as the final villain tbh. Yes, he is is the embodiment of the forest but he seems to be more of an idea of evolution given form.
I don't think Gaim's ending is bad, just radically different from other Kamen Rider endings. And it can't be worse than 555's ending which is no ending at all. And I like that micchy had a redemption story. I mean, if you're gonna hate on that them you might as well hate Riderman.

And those three choices really only change which color the big explosion is.

Which is even more of a letdown, seriously mass effect 3's ending was disappointing to the extreme.

Let's move the Mass Effect 3 ending discussion to What Video Game are you Playing thread, guys. It's moved beyond Gaim, and the coloration made no sense to start with.

The hero sacrificing everything for their friends isn't a very unique ending for KR. Gaim just rushed into it. The redemption story's issue was that it came out of left field. Micchy destroyed so many people's lives, and suddenly we're supposed to feel bad for him and root for him? Just because the villain decides to stop being evil doesn't make him a complex or sympathetic character. Concerning Riderman, you have to keep in mind that many people watching KR hasn't seen V3, so they only know Riderman from how Toei presents him today (Being a virtuous hero of justice with a chip on his shoulder...Sometimes). It's hard to hate on a character you don't know.

I'm not saying we're supposed to feel sorry for Micchy. But we can appreciate that he's going down a path of redemption. He basically got a second chance, and he's using it in the best way possible.
Now if Zack and Oren just jumped him to curbstomp the guy, I'd be cheering for misters Knuckleman and Dangerous. Just because he's on the road to redemption doesn't mean his behavior as a little shit should just be overlooked.

People didn't like Gaim's ending?
Actually now reading your comments, I can understand why. It's similar to Blade's ending except it is a reward rather then a sacrifice, which changes a lot. And especially Micchy's redemption. Gain is weird in that it's plot revolves around the main character being provided with everything he needs to succeed. And while the satisfaction comes from seeing Kouta learning to use those tools effectively, it does turn the story into a power-up contest at the end. |
