We have a new Godzilla movie coming out in 2023. The film will be directed by Takashi Yamazaki. Best known for directing Always: Sunset on Third Street, Parasyte: Part 1-2, and Lupin the 3rd: The First.

Wow! Great. I wonder if it will be a new beginning or a continuation? In any case, I'm intrigued and waiting for the details.
By the way, are there any new projects foreseen for Gamera? The last film was 16 years ago, will there really be no more? |

Nice! I thought Shin Godzilla was neat, so I was pretty sad Toho didn't do a proper movie for years afterwards.

Today was certainly a great day for Godzilla. And I'm excited for this news!
I know Legendary has another Godzilla and Kong movie next year, but I'm honestly more excited for Japan's new Godzilla. It may also be wishful thinking, but I'd love another Tokusatsu Style Godzilla film, since these shorts they've been doing for Godzilla Fest are phenomenal. Though, I won't mind too much, especially given this is being directed by the guy who did Godzilla the Ride.

I'm curious what approach to the franchise they'll take here.

My friends, tomorrow is the big reveal! After a special countdown featuring all the Live-Action Japanese Godzilla films every day, only one slot remains and that will be for the newest entry in the Godzilla Series from Japan.
Now, given the Director, Takashi Yamazaki's works, it is highly likely to be a CGI Godzilla film, since he's a VFX Director as well who's previous romps with Godzilla include the opening sequence of Always Sunset on Third Street 2 and Godzilla: The Ride. Both of which have a very vintage Japanese look, which should give you an idea of how it might look. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the reveal and the film's eventual release stateside!

The new project is officially known as "Godzilla Minus One."
"Set in a post-war Japan, Godzilla Minus One will once again show us a Godzilla that is a terrifying and overwhelming force, which you already get a sense of from the teaser trailer and poster,” said Koji Ueda, President of Toho International. “The concept is that Japan, which had already been devastated by the war, faces a new threat with Godzilla, bringing the country into the ‘minus.’" Releases November 3rd in Japan- with a US release in December!
