Alright, now that the sentai, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger is now officially over, its time we have a thread to reflect on the last year.
Gokaiger holds a very special place in my heart. It was the very first super sentai I ever watched. I can even remember the first time I saw episode one, just how excited I was for this show. It was through this show I grew to love Super Sentai, made some amazing friends, be it here or on the old tfw2005 thread or at an anime convention I go to. I will proudly say I bawled like a baby at the end of the episode, I just don't want to see my favorite gang of space pirates to go. It was with gokaiger that I purchased my first Japanese DX mecha, learned how to pre-order on ami ami, how it was to camp out at 3 am to get the hot pre-order for the gokaiger figuarts. Gokaiger was the show that has made me the collector you see today, so to see it go makes me weep, but its happy tears. So long Space Pirates, you will always live on in all of our hearts!

Farewell Gokaiger.
You weren't my first Sentai, but it does hold the honor of being the only Sentai I've finished lol. |

Gokaiger wasn't my first Sentai, but it's the only one so far that I've been able to stick with from start to finish (although, to be fair, my only other major effort was Goseiger, and I stuck that out a lot longer than many others - almost got to episode 20). That said, it did spark a newfound understanding and interest in Sentai for me. I've watched a lot of older series' first episodes now based off of the strength of Gokaiger and in the upcoming months I'm going to make an effort to try and watch some of the more interesting looking/accessible older shows.
I don't own any Gokaiger merch yet, but I will probably load up on the BoA versions of the mechs when Gokaiger gets its PR adaptation. Plus the GokaiRed Figuart is still on my list of skipped Figuarts to go back and pick up when my income improves later this year. |

Gokaiger was not my first Sentai. Nor is it the only one I've finished. I've seen from Dekaranger all the way through Gokaiger. Gokaiger is excluded from my list of favorites because of its excessive greatness as an anniversary series. Although it's over I still have the Flying Ghost Ship, vs Space Sheriff Gavan, and Super Hero Taisen to look forward to. As well as the inevitable Team-up movie with Go-Busters. Gokaiger is responsible for beginning my Sentai collection. Before, I had considered getting a few things, but Gokaiger actually made me buy things. And I might continue to build my collection from here.

Gokaiger was my first Sentai from start to finish. What a fun and amazing ride it has been. I will always cherish the "OH SHIT!" moments I had watching them Gokai change in to my favorite past heroes (MMPR style obviously but still, Marvelous was awesome).
Bring on Gobuster ... Gokaiger has set the bar incredibly high. |

Bring on Gobuster ... Gokaiger has set the bar incredibly high. Ok, everything that can be said about Gokaiger has pretty much been said, and here is what I have to bring to the table... Thank you, Ichimichi Mao aka Luka Millfy, you have gave me more eye candy than I can count, I hate that I won't be able to see you on screen anymore, and watch you with that spunky attitude of yours. Thank you for everything ![]() As for the rest of the crew, you certainly made a show of it, Thank you!!

Gokaiger was by far not my first sentai, nor my first to finish, I've been watching Sentai for a very long time.
I say this not to sound arrogant, or as some sort of "better Fan" but to try to add weight to what I say. Gokiager was AMAZING, and those calling it the best ending ever are so correct! It took everything Decade failed to do and perfected it. It stayed interesting throughout the whole series, it had SO many guest stars none could complain. And It knew you do not show us ONE hurricanger, those three are an unseperable force of nature! Hot manly tears do I cry for all this series accomplished. I don't think It topped Jetman, Hurricanger or Gekiranger but it's definetly earned it place towards the top of the mountain. My only hope moving forward is that Power Ranger is able to capture even 1/10th of this magic. theres so much here for them to work with, and so much room for them to tell thier own stories by just drawing from thier own personal fictions (Can anyone imagine the potential Epicness of receiving the IN SPACE grand powers?) Farewell Gokaiger, we shall see you again in your next 3 movies.... you served us well. But for the first time in a VERY long while, I feel that the teams story is complete, that I can accept the next team openly just 1 week later, and I wholeheartedly look forward to GoBusters!

Gokaiger was not my first Super Sentai series, nor the first one I followed, but it was the first one I followed from the very start. It started off with a bang and just kept up with the momentum.
It taught me so many things about Super Sentai that I never knew before. It showed me the grandness and nobility of being a Super Sentai member, even coming from an unlikely group of scallywag pirates. It would be a season fondly remembered for celebrating Super Sentai, a season to recommend to anyone starting Super Sentai, a season that represents everything Super Sentai stood for. Farewell Gokaigers, but I hope to see you again. I'll look forward to all your appearances in the future. Hade ni ikuze!

This was the first Sentai series I've ever watched from start to finish; what a ride.
