And now you guys have caught up with me. The first two episodes this week are fantastic and really badass. Definitely one of the show's high points so far.
And then there's episode 36... It's not bad, per say, it's just really... actually, no. It is bad. Easily the worst episode of the show I've seen, even without the Edo set. It's just dumb, random, and pointless. Honestly, it was partially because of this episode that I haven't gotten around to continuing the show. But at least Mele is still hot. |

34 and 35 are awesome. Great episodes and easily enjoyable.
36. With the thief sisters...Well, it happened.

And so we see the conclusion to the GekiRin Rebellion started so many years ago.
Episode 34: We see the fallout of what happened after the Gekirangers were sent into the past. The Jyugenkyo is burnt down and the defeated Kensei are locked into the Douokougan and are having their life force drained away slowly. Ken runs off to check on Saidain while the rest of the team has to deal with Kata. We see that Kata is definitely no push, and he probably would have won if Jan hadn't remember Shafu telling him to "Don't think. Feel It."(BTW, can you guess what Martial Aritist master Brusa was based on ![]() Episode 35: The time for the final GekiRin rebellion is at hand. It's Maku vs. the Gekirangers. Before the battle starts Rio returns to the Rinjyuden and briefly confronts Maku, showing that he is capable on challenging Maku now thanks to the Geki Power Bloom. During the chaos if the Rinshis running amok in town, Jan seaks out the greatest enemy and finds Rio, while the rest of the team encounter Maku. Jan and Rio's fight shows both of them have grown much stronger, but still have a long way to go. Then onto the main event, Jan vs. Maku which heralds the return of the Super Gekiranger theme(seriously, that song is so damn good). Jan puts a pretty good smackdown on Maku, but it's when the Gekirangers combine their forces they are able to finally beat him, with both Geki Goitsu(sp) and then SaidaiGekiFire. On the Rinjyuken side of things not Maku, we have Rageku showing Rio and Mele why Maku started the rebellion in the first place. He was angry over the being second best after learnng the truth that Shafu was Master Brusa's first choice. And then we have the death of Rageku, not at the hands of Gekirangers or Rio or Mele, but Long. He claims the Kenma have served their purpose and are no longer needed, and kills her with ease. An interesting thing to note that while Rageku didn't recognize Long in his human form, she definitely remembered his armored form, and was terrified to see it. Hmmm. Also Long appears directly to Rio for the first time and tells him of a power greater than Geki and Rinjyukens, Genjyuken. DUM DUM DUUUUUM~! 36. Another stage change filler episode. We have Retsu, Elehan, and Sharkie goofing around with some chinese girl master thieves. It was funny to see goof ball Kenseis just being goof balls, drunk ones at that. And since driinking was involved obligatory drunken martial arts must happen! The Rinjyuken plot was rather humorous. Rinshi wants Mele to power him up so he's trying to find something to bribe her with. Seeing it in the Wagataku was amusing. I almost felt bad that Mele made it grow by accident and getting taken out by Saidain which was piloted by a crazed Ken who had been riled up by everyone trying to take the Soujyutou from him. And at the end of episode, Long reappears with friends in tow. Can't wait for next week. This is where Gekiranger is at its best. |

Oh yes, that does remind me. It's unfortunate that the Gekirangers weren't the ones who got to take out Rageku. I know she was defeated by them, but it just would've been so much better to have the Gekirangers to be the ones to destroy all 3 Kenma.

Yeah, that was a bit of a bummer. It was cool to see Ken to Ken take her down on his own, but the Gekirangers weren't the ones to kill her.

Oh well. I just think it would've been cooler, but what are ya gonna do?
Anyway, Long has brought in his two personal generals to replace Rageku and Kata. (And don't tell anyone, but I preferred Rageku and Kata. From a character standpoint, they were just more interesting, despite the revelations of Long's generals).

Kata is still the most interesting and developed of the Kenma to me. Rageku gets sandwiched between Kata and maku so there isn't alot there. Maku is just a rage beast so he's pretty typical. But Kata gets to shine in a few places like his battle here in episode 34.
And man oh man. The first time Saidaioh appears to kick ass always gets me. Such a good episode, and I love that Master Brusa's blessing was also bestowed on Rio and Mele. It foreshadows the awesomeness yet to come for those 2 ![]()

Kata was pretty cool. I liked his sheer dickishness towards Mele.
Rageku wasn't much, but for what she got to do, it was enjoyable. Compared to Long's generals, who are a zombie and a mindless drone, even Maku looks like an A+ character. And yeah, seeing Rio and Mele receive Brusa's blessing was nice foreshadowing, as well as helps reinforce that Rin and Geki aren't entirely different.
