Criterion has also been acquiring the rights to the heisei godzilla films. Hopefully we will get plenty more announcements from them for Godzilla.

It?s exciting that Criterion has been acquiring the rights to the Heisei Godzilla films! Fans are definitely looking forward to potential releases, especially in 4K. Criterion has done an excellent job with past Godzilla collections, so more announcements would be great news for kaiju enthusiasts. A 4K release of those iconic films would offer an incredible visual upgrade, making the effects and action sequences even more spectacular.

They're getting the Heisei rights as well? I already own the individual blu rays but I'm curious to see what they'd do with them.

Well they've got the rights for the first...half...of the Heisei Era; they've been streaming on the Criterion Channel. Presumably the latter half (as well as any potential blu-ray collection release) is being held off until Toho gets the distribution rights back from Sony, considering they're still doing those blu-ray two-packs for most of Heisei (barring 1984 and VS Biollante) and all of Millenium...
