Last week I mentioned about Mr. Hoshino being potentially involved in a (sub)plot twist in this episode, but I didn't expect that it'd be him being accused as the mastermind of the whole debacle by Kajiki. In the end, he's still the comic relief of the last 2 episodes.
The real "villain" of the last 2 episodes is actually the Kyubi Malgam, a Malgam created from the bond of Ninetail (Occult 9) and the fox statue worshipped by the locals as the guardian spirit of the village. This Malgam might be formed accidentally without Atropos' (or the other Sisters') involvement, so that explains why it's silver, not golden like the other 2 Malgams in the previous episode. This is also the second occurrence of a bond between a Chemy and an inanimate object. And how could I completely miss the potential of Ninetail's appearance in this episode while it was obviously hinted at in the previous episode? Haha. So, there are 7 new Chemies that have appeared in these 2 episodes. The writers are probably trying to show all 100 Chemies before the debut of Gotchard's berserker/final form, which will probably use the 101st or 102nd Chemy. Atropos resumes her mind games with Rinne by asking her several cryptic questions. The writers mentioned that The Sisters would be given greater focus and narrative portions than previous villains in this franchise, but so far I think they're still too underutilized. Next week: Houtarou's old (re)encounter for the new season? It seems like he's somehow gonna be entangled in the drama club's activities. And Minato's resumed his teaching job at Houtarou's school? I think the episodes from episode 28-33 are breather/filler episodes before the main plot resumes in episode 33 or 34 that will probably also reveal several new pieces of crucial information, along with KR Legend's rumored inclusion in the main story. I'm still waiting for the gigantic reveal about Houtarou's dad and his connection to the story. I smell that the writers are building up something big that will be revealed after KR Legend's debut in the main story. Or perhaps KR Legend is not included in the main plot and will only get new special episodes for Youtube/TTFC to promote the DX Legend Kamen Riser? Gotchard's main plot is already starting to feel convoluted anyway. The writers will only make their job harder if they decide to include KR Legend in the main plot. |

I watched this two-part story. What I didn’t like: the guest star was put too much in the foreground for a rather insignificant role. Kajiki alone is enough and he doesn’t need a partner/mentor. But on the good side: the Chemies-yokai turned out to be very colorful, and the malgam-kitsune even gave off some kind of otherworldly vibe. This is his silence, incomprehensibility and laughter. Also, the relationship between Renge and her grandmother went through a completely natural and healthy development. And little Renge is incredibly cute! Also, the filler nature of this story is compensated by 7 new cards. Although, I should note that considering that most of them are intended for Rinne, she did little to get them. But the dialogue with Atropos reminds us that their conflict was never resolved, so there is still more to come.
And in the next episode, the school play "Romeo and Juliet". I don’t know what they’ll do there, but I’m very interested. P.S. I also want to speak about the Alchemical Council. This means that Geryon didn’t even erase their memory, but simply deceived them. I get the impression that the elders there are either very stupid or very vile. And most likely both. P.P.S. I have to admit that I appreciate that the show is in no rush to throw in a new big boss and bring the world back to the brink of destruction. It may seem unnecessary now, but future generations of fans will appreciate it. |

I thought this episode looked really dynamic in some ways that were new for Gotchard and I was right. This two-parter was directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi, the guy who brought us some of the best moments from Ultrasmen Orb, Z, and Blazar. Should have known right away when Takaya Aoyagi showed up.
Going forward from here, if Kajiki just randomly turns up embroiled in the Chemy of the week story in a way that makes absolutely no sense, I'm down for it. It works for him. |

The Dark Sisters should play the Capulet siblings.

Ahoy! It's been a while.
To keep things brief, I love Gotchard's new forms, but I'll probably talk about some of the previous episodes later. For now... I KNEW I recognized Takaya Aoyagi! But seeing people mention Kiyotaka Taguchi was involved makes this even better (and funnier)! I was half expecting him to turn out to be a twist villain, but I like how he was just a weirdo who got superpowers and went on a power trip with Kajiki being his devout follower. I must say, even if it's not much, I'm glad Gotchard hasn't completely retired his old forms, but at the very least the Chemies are still relevant to his dynamics. Anyway, I am back (hopefully if I don't get busy again)! Still enjoying Gotchard and watching BoonBoomger along with it.

In short: In 2013 = Glion manipulated the AU's top brasses memories to make Fuga look like the culprit. In 2023 = Glion recently returned and he simply told the AU's top brasses that he disappeared in the last 10 years due to being defeated by Fuga 10 years ago. This is even worse than having their memories manipulated by Glion, because it implies the AU's top brasses only have very narrow information channels that one member can simply lie about his decade-long disappearance to the whole organization, and the AU's top brasses believe it. Sigh, both these possibilities reek plot convenience. Strangely, both episodes were written by Hiroki Uchida. The memory manipulation trick (and the resulting plot holes) is the worst part of Gotchard's story so far. |
