The official Doctor Who magazine are tweeting it now so I'm inclined to say its legit.

Really saddened by this news. I love Smith's Doctor, and if anything I think its Moffat's writing style that's outstayed its welcome rather than Smith himself. Would have loved to see what he'd be like under another head writer.

It'd be awesome if Damian Lewis becomes the next Doctor. He's both ginger, slightly older and a great actor.

Yeah it's a shame such a great Doctor got so few great stories.

This is horrible news. While Moffat's tenor directing the series hasn't been perfect, Smith's Portrayal of him has been. I loved the quarkyness, I loved everything about his time. And.. I'm really sad. Matt Smith is an excellent Doctor.

I agree, I rather we keep Matt and get rid of Moffat. As always I'm excited for the debut of a new Doctor, but him being another Moffat Doctor is making me worried.

This, cant we just admit that Moffat sucked, we were wrong and he works better on single episodes and just move on to someone else? That way Smith can get the adventures his Doctor deserves.

I wouldn't go that far. Moffat's first season was, for me, the best single year the show's ever had. Series six was pretty good, too. I think it's just this year that things haven't really clicked and I blame the split schedule and more episodic structure as much as I blame the Moff. And he's still much, much better than Davies.

I've actually liked his latest season, even with the split, the best since it's the first time he didn't add twists to other twists just for the sake of more twists. It is one thing to strive for that 'water cooler moment' and another entirely to just make your show needlessly convoluted.

I preferred Davies way more, at least until he became so ridiculously self indulgent.

I'm going with you on this one. Moffat's first season remains my favorite in Doctor Who's New Series. On average, I really do prefer Moffat's run compared to Davies.

Davies was so far up his own ass by the end that no daylight could get in. It really is hard for me to watch most of Tennant's last year of specials.
