My problem is that the current version of the song just sucks.
It really feels like Saban approached them and said "I want this song from the 90's, but make it sound more modern..." without explaining what the hell that's supposed to mean, leaving the band to scratch their heads and produce this.

There was that one time with Simon Cowell, but he did pay 1/4 of that to charity.

It's not really much of a choice; either it's Disney who couldn't care less or Saban who couldn't pay less.

I still don't understand how people can say Disney didn't care with the sheer amount of effort they put into every season, constant threats to axe it or not.

They put a lot of of money into production, but did very little to actually promote it, moved its timeslot around frequently, and superseded it for sports or other programming at the drop of a hat. A crappy show can still be big if it has enough promotion, but if no one knows about your extremely well-written, award-winning program with great effects and high production values... Kinda hard to get viewers and thus turn a profit.

But were Disney's seasons a dramatic failure? I assumed they must still be raking in the cash, if they could shoot almost entirely new footage seasons like RPM, or create brand new villains for every season (like Mesogog and his awesome animatronics) or at least shoot entirely new action sequences, to bend sentai characters in other directions.

*Shrug* I'm just explaining what the problem was. This is Disney, they make enough money to finance an entire season of MMPR in a day. The problem is that, from what I can tell, even with merchandise sales (the lifeblood of any kid's show and MMPR especially), they were running the series at a loss.

This "problem" only makes me appreciate Disney more. They can create better seasons than Saban even on a sinking ship.

Oh, I'm not arguing that. The two companies are inverses of each other; Disney has strict quality standards that it expects all productions to adhere to and will pay out of pocket to make sure they are met, but won't promote it unless it's already raking in massive amounts of money; Saban would give the producers a box full of Happy Meal toys and a pack of shoe strings to make the show if they could get away with it, but they promote the hell out of the show to make sure people KNOW about it.

As has been said repeatedly in this thread, Disney for the production, Saban for the promotion.
