I actually really like the gurs work but his views on this thing are just not something I can agree with at all.

Not how I interpreted the comparison at all. They have been pretty clear that they think what Nintendo is doing regarding Let's Plays is absolute bullocks and compared Saban and Power/Rangers to that. So... An LP is a transformative work... this is a film using a licensed brand without permission. Not too similar.

Nintendo's LP claims are bullocks anyways, but Roosterteeth doesn't play any Nintendo games anyway.

Jeremy Jahns just did. I subscribe to the guy because of his movie reviews, so I saw this earlier. It's his opinion and I think the short film was generic and uninspired but that's my opinion.

Seems like there are various camps in this issue. People who like it and people who don't like, subdivisions who thought it was funny or not, a subdivisions of that where you were a hardcore fan or not. Just a whole mess. And for once, I am actually siding with JDF's opinion a little bit .

Same here I rarely agree with him on any thing these days. PR movie now I think fits the 12 rating PG-13 for you guys in the states. Man I wonder when I agree with JDF again comes.

I finally got around to watching this today and on a surface level I thought the story part wasn't really that bad. It was a pretty interesting revenge story involving Rita. However, the way things played out and the direction that director went was where I didn't agree. I definitely think JDF said it best, and I completely agree with what he said.

My only other thought was that Zack is the man for getting both Scorpina and Divatox at the same time. At the time I didn't realize what was happening in that scene, but the end credits definitely helped enlighten everything.

Production values were amazing. It was really well-done. However, tonally, it felt way off. If you took the PR suits out of it, it would feel more like Expendables or something, not Power Rangers. I also didn't find it very entertaining, and I really hated the opening shot (with the rangers shooting the guns into the sky.)

I still want a Power Rangers movie that's similar to Pacific Rim.
