Hideki Go taught me what it meant to be human as an Ultraman.

What it meant to truly have humanity for all it's foibles and joy. To be a man, a lover, a brother, a mentor, and to inspire even while carrying the flaws that make a human...a human. Someone who messed up and charged headfirst, but who learned, improved, and always tried to do the right thing.

And Go wouldn't be Go without Jiro Dan.

RIP Jiro Dan. RIP Go. I will carry the 5 Ultra Oaths with me for the rest of my life.

I didn't even know he had lung cancer, but he had been battling it for over 5 years. The fact he was still able to appear in Ryusoulger, albeit sparingly, shows his dedication. It's crazy that both him and Mana Kinjo were battling illnesses during filming.

But of course, he's a big part of why Return of Ultraman is my favorite Showa Ultraman series. Hideki Go just seemed like a more likable hero than the usual tokusatsu protagonist of the time, he seemed more human.

I was never into Ultraman Jack as much but boy did Jiro Dan know how to ooze charisma whenever he was in a show or a movie. Thank you so much Mr. Dan for being Hideki. May you rest in peace.

This is another tremendous loss that just hurts me...

I haven't watched Return of Ultraman, but I am familiar with some of his other roles, like Ryusoulger, and the G-Guard Captain in Godzilla Island, among others.

I even watched Return of Ultraman in its entirety last year too and watched his appearances in Ultraman Mebius, Mebius and the Ultra Brothers and The Superior Eight Ultra Brothers movies as well.
