People are speculating that Toei might be rebranding away from Super Sentai to get around the whole Hasbro deal. Probably able to sell Sentai as its own show without being link to Power Rangers.

I didn't think a day would come where Super Sentai would announce that it's done. I cut my teeth in the genre that is tokusatsu with Super Sentai, and it took me by surprise the moment I saw the words. Honestly, it still feels like a belated April Fool's joke, and I will surely miss everything about it and hope that this is truly not the end. I want to thank Toei's Super Sentai department for taking on the daunting task of pumping out shows of a group of heroes year after year. I hope the swan song that is Gozyuger ends on a high note. And to those who haven't seen one of the shows yet, you now have 49 shows (excluding oneshots and spinoffs) to choose from and 50 teams to call your fav. I hope whichever show you decide to watch is an enjoyable one and leads to exploring other shows including those not part of this series.

Now, I'm not going to jump to conclusions, since don't we normally get leaks for the next show around next month? But I'll wait for official confirmation before first. If this does end up true, I'll certainly miss Super Sentai. Especially since I've honestly been enjoying it tremendously week-to-week even over Rider and at times Ultraman. That's my brief thoughts. Now for some other uninteresting thoughts. So, people are speculating this is some rebranding in conjunction with power Rangers, but I have some doubts. If I recall right, Disney is planning to relaunch Power Rangers, but then I found out they made a new show called "Armorsaurs" which is basically Power Rangers, leading me to wonder if that rumor was false. I don't doubt there's a chance Power Rangers could get rebooted (everything's getting rebooted these days) but I wonder how much of that has to do with Super Sentai in particular aside from using the same suits and designs. Second, if anyone here follows Yu-Gi-Oh! There is currently no weekly Anime anymore (besides the monthly Card Chronicles) after Go Rush! concluded earlier this year, so if Sentai does end, that's the closest comparison I'd have. Third, I know people talk about sales and ratings, and we've seen how Kamen Rider is basically becoming more Sentai, what with multiple colorful heroes, mecha, and that Sentai started out as a Rider show before becoming its own thing, this probably means Kamen Rider will become THE Toei Superhero Show. And Super Sentai may have some specials (like the X Years Later Movies) or little cameos and crossovers with Rider, but it seems likely Rider with just become the sole flagship moving forward if that's the case. Finally, I kind of doubt they'd resurrect any of their older heroes, as cool as that would be, or as much as some people have speculated that Metal Heroes and Space Sheriffs could return. It's more likely that there will be some new Superhero Show that's very different from Rider and Sentai could appear or as stated previously, Rider will just take over. Heck, look at all the Sentai Parodies in Manga/Anime like Love After World Domination, Sentai Daishikaku, Red Ranger becomes an Adventurer in Another World, and Sentai Taboo (which I don't doubt will get adapted at some point) or other Tokusatsu shows like Dogengers. Even if Super Sentai stops airing, they've left an indelible mark on the world and media in general. Either way, Toei focusing its budget and resources on one show wouldn't be a bad decision, but I'll still miss Sentai in that event.

Yeah, as much as it hurts me to see it go away, I won't be mad at Toei for doing so. Reason being they have likely legit reasons to pull the plug, indirect external factors such as toy sales probably being one of many. Reason I say indirect is because toy sales are probably more of a problem for Bandai.
