I've been wondering what was everyone's entry tokusatsu was! My first proper exposure was Kamen Rider W. I was aware of stuff like Power Rangers and Godzilla as a kid, but never had any interest in them!

It's the same for me. W is a great start because it's a very balanced show. Actually, this is its meaning. And so the rangers and Godzilla were constantly shown on television. I also remember watching Beetleborgs as a child, but mostly because they were shown at the right time. |

Definitely started with Power Rangers back in the 90s. I didn't get into the original material until Kamen Rider Decade, which sent me on a major binge of the Heisei era so I could understand it (except Kuuga; Kuuga hadn't been fully subbed yet).

Godzilla. Enough said.
Sure, I'd also seen (Disney Era) Power Rangers as a lad that I had fun watching, but it all started with Godzilla. Then I found out about Ultraman and got into that, then learned of Kamen Rider and got hooked immediately when Build came out, which in turn led me to Lupinranger vs Patranger. Still getting around to Garo.

Power Rangers in '94, quickly followed by V.R Troopers/Beetleborgs/Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad/ Masked Rider, then the Godzilla films...I had no chance really. Interestingly I can't remember the point when I discovered the origins of Super Sentai (aside from noticing the footage difference in an episode of Turbo when it aired), yet by the mid 00s I was roaming for fansubs along with other anime. Dipped into Kamen Rider not long after but took a while to watch Ultraman.

Power Rangers and Godzilla. Loved both those franchises as a kid.

I was searching through Tamashii Web for new Gundam merch when they released a promo visual for the Ex-Aid Figuarts (this was way back then when Ex-Aid was airing). I got interested in the designs, poked around and discovered Kamen Rider Gaim. I decided to watch it.
Got hooked, proceeded to binge Wizard afterwards. I eventually moved onto Ex-Aid. And that's how I fell into the tokusatsu rabbit hole. Side note, I couldn't afford the Figuarts back then because I was only 14-15. Finally got the Ex-Aid Figuarts (the mighty Action X set) a few weeks ago (my very first Figuarts) after I found them for a price I was happy to pay for. The sense of satisfaction I got was palpable.

I’d go with Power Rangers. It’s a gateway for many into the world of tokusatsu and has a strong nostalgic appeal for a wide audience. if you are looking for someone to write your essay assignment then you can visit academized.com/write-my-essay here where you will easily find it. My first toku was Kamen Rider W in college. I'd been curious about Kamen Rider for a while (don't recall how I first heard about it), but didn't know where to watch it until my roommate mentioned this site she used to watch K-dramas. I went to check it out just in case it had toku too, and lo and behold, it did!
W was my pick to start with because I was irrationally anti-crossover at the time (I still don't like them much but I'm sane about it now), and the start of the phase 2 Heisei seasons seemed like the best compromise between my desire to start at a some sort of beginning and my desire to avoid anything "tainted" by Decade (this was before Zi-Oh).
